Battlefield 2042 will get a new season at the beginning of June. With it are new weapons, a map, as well as improvements and squad management functions.

Battlefield 2042 will soon go into the next round: Season 5, New Dawn brings new weapons and gadgets, a map and many other innovations on 6 June 2023. And especially fans of Battlefield 4 will remember old times when watching the gameplay trailer. But see for yourself, we summarise all the important information for you!

What”s new in Season 5?

The gameplay trailer for Season 5 gives you a good overview. Here you can not only see the new weapons in action, but you can also take a look at the new map. We”ll go into more detail below.

New weapons and gadgets

A total of three new weapons have been announced for Season 5. Furthermore, there will probably also be new Vault weapons, which were previously only available in Portal, but will now be unlocked for the whole game. The RPG-V72 can already be seen in the trailer. But now to the already confirmed new arrivals:

  • XCE BAR: A penetrating and accurate low rate of fire sniper rifle.
  • GEW-46: This assault rifle with extremely accurate bursts is actually the carbine version of the German G36, which you could already play in Battlefield 4.
  • BFP .50: A Desert Eagle by another name. This pistol shoots sniper ammunition and causes a lot of damage. But you also have to cope with the recoil of the heavy weapon.

In addition to the weapons, we also get to equip new gadgets, this time there is a whole new set of grenades:

  • Spring Grenade: This grenade flies upwards before exploding and is especially effective against enemy infantry.
  • AT Grenade: This explosive device is thrown at vehicles and explodes on impact.
  • Mini Grenade: Small grenades that fly further but have less explosive power. You even have three of them in your pack.

As usual, the new weapons and gadgets are unlocked via the Season 5 Battle Pass, which also gives you some new cosmetic items.

New Map

(In Season 5 we return to a familiar location, but one that has changed.)
(In Season 5 we return to a familiar location, but one that has changed.)

Under the name Reclaimed a new version of an already known battlefield will be released in Season 5. We are talking about the map Zavod 311, where we fought in Battlefield 4. It goes to a now snow-covered and partly destroyed factory area in the Czech Republic, which is located in the middle of a forest. What”s new here are apparently permanently installed anti-aircraft guns, which you could use to defend your base in previous games in the series.

Further content and improvements

  • Squad Management: One of the most requested features from previous games in the series finally returns with Season 5: You can create your own squads, join other squads specifically, or hand over command to others. However, it is probably not possible to remove players from the squad.
  • Vault Weapons Update: Vault weapons didn”t really feel competitive for many players until now. This is set to change with Season 5, starting with the assault rifles, all Vault weapons will then receive successive modifications from the main game.
  • Map Rework: The last map to be extensively reworked is Hourglass, but the rework will only arrive in the course of the season. The map will be smaller overall, and you will find more cover everywhere to protect yourself from fire. In addition, Hourglass will feel more like a battlefield: Traces of past battles are everywhere and the once shiny skyscrapers are damaged. There is also a new underground area that only infantry can access.
  • Event: During Season 5, there will once again be an event where you can earn free skins and try out a new mode. This time it will be a mix of infantry and vehicle combat.

In addition, Season 5 will include other changes. Among other things, the two Specialists Dozer and Irish will be reworked, and the (vehicle loadouts adjusted). It is not yet known how and if new content will be added after the season. In Origin there were hints of a possible year 2 with new seasons, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

What do you think of Season 5? Do you like the new content like maps and weapons, and do they remind you of Battlefield 4? And what do you think of the new skins that can be seen in the trailer? Will you be going into battle again in Season 5, or are you playing something else in the meantime? Feel free to post it in the comments!
