The weapons in Battlefield 2042 are in constant flux: At release, assault rifles were virtually useless and everyone went for overpowered submachine guns like the PP29. Then came the patches and DICE tinkered with the balance.
So that you can still keep track and don’t have to check yourself which of the 22 weapons is currently performing best, we give you our tips for strong weapon loadouts in this article.
Recommendation 1: PKP-BP
The PKP-BP is the second light machine gun and has proven to be an absolute performer at medium and long ranges – especially in the game mode Breakthrough, where you are often confronted with large groups of opponents. This LMG has two major advantages:
Huge Magazine: With the extended high-power magazine, it offers 300 rounds per charge, for one thing. That’s theoretically enough bullets to wipe out several squads without reloading. So if you can position yourself wisely and flank large groups of closely packed enemies, you are guaranteed to get some kills. The only disadvantage is that if you choose this magazine, you will have to reckon with very long reload times.
High precision: The PKP-BP has a special recoil pattern. The first shots warp a lot, but the longer you hold it, the more precise it becomes. After a few seconds, you can literally laser everything that comes into your field of vision. If you use the Warhawk compensator, you only have to worry about the vertical recoil for the first, imprecise shots.

Recommendation 2: M5A3
In the meantime, however, the situation has turned around and many streamers and YouTubers recommend this Assault Rifle for close and medium ranges.
After the first balance patches, the M5A3 has such high precision that you could think you were holding a weapon from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Therefore, we recommend that you improve the performance of the M5A3 at close range to keep up against enemies with rapid-fire submachine guns.
To do this, use the shortened barrel to increase the rate of fire. This can be further increased by selecting the melee ammunition, which not only gives you more shots per second, but also better recoil control and reload speed. If you now also install the laser sight, which guarantees more accurate shots in hip fire, you will be prepared for any close combat situation.
But you can still get quick kills at medium range as well: The precision remains excellent, only the damage decreases slightly with enemies further away.

Recommendation 3: SVK
Of course, no sniper rifle or DMR should be missing from the weapon recommendations – after all, the Battlefield series is known for the fact that there are heaps of campers in every game who prefer to target their enemies from a safe distance. Our current recommendation for this is the SVK, which belongs to the DMRs.
In order to be successful at long ranges with this semi-automatic rifle, you should choose the M22 3.5x sight. This offers a nice zoom, but does not overdo it. For longer distances you can also switch to the M11 6x.
It is essential that you select the high-power ammunition as soon as you have unlocked it. Although it increases the recoil and makes the SVK harder to control, it increases the damage and effectiveness at long range. This means that you only need to land two body hits or one head hit to kill enemies – even at long distances.
To ensure that you can land the two required hits, you should equip the Champion Muzzle Brake, which greatly reduces the recoil. This makes it much easier to land a follow-up shot. You should also make sure that you do not move at all while firing – the SVK is very sensitive to this. If you do this, you can also install the cobra grip. This improves the accuracy when you stand still – and you should anyway, if you want to distribute precise head shots.
