Battlefield has a future at Electronic Arts – despite the flop from the latest spin-off, Battlefield 2042. But EA”s CEO Andrew Wilson apparently has further change in mind for the series.

Mind you: When you”re speaking in front of investors in your company, you better be telling the truth. Because they are ultimately your bosses and can sue you if you knowingly misinform them.

If EA-CEO Andrew Wilson follows this noble, even downright Hanseatic businessman principle, then thanks to (Gamespot) and (Gamesradar) s recent investor report, we know three facts about the next installment of the Battlefield series.

Battlefield”s future

  1. EA will continue the series despite the fiasco that Battlefield 2042 has been, especially at launch.
  2. Battlefield is firmly part of EA”s portfolio as a brand and is part of the company”s strategy.
  3. Wilson is confident that EA has the ability to bring Battlefield back in a whole new way in the future

During the report, he also took responsibility to investors for the issues surrounding Battlefield 2042, and said that following a conversation with the new leadership team of the Battlefield franchisehe had exceptional confidence in the team and the progress they are making towards a future for the series

What we don”t know about the next Battlefield

Well, almost everything else, actually. Except for the fact that it is coming and will include a single player campaign, we know nothing. Because what Wilson means exactly is virtually open to interpretation, or rather invention.

The CEO promises investors to reveal details at the appropriate time. At the moment he has nothing to announce in terms of dates But the new Battlefield – like all of the publisher”s products – will follow EA”s strategy,

to build games and experiences that attract and entertain massive online communities, across platforms, business models and geographies.

Imagine: You go to sleep and wake up as Andrew Wilson. And suppose you really do have full control of the next Battlefield. What kind of BF 2042 sequel would you commission and oversee as godlike CEO and chief developer mastermind? Write us your vision for the future of the time-honoured shooter series in the comments! And no: you”re not supposed to write what you would do with all the money Wilson gets every month.
