First information on the new Battlefield game, which should please battle royale enthusiasts in particular

After the debacle surrounding Battlefield 2024, it had long been quiet about a sequel to the popular game series. Now there is a first sign of life with some details about the new game, one of which should be of particular interest to the community.

The new one…

It’s been a long time since a Battlefield game has made positive headlines, or at least not negative ones. After scathing reviews, a number of scandals and even demands from some players that EA should refund their money, there is finally some good news about the popular FPS franchise again.

As industry insider Tom Henderson has discovered, the shooter will include a Free2Play component in the form of a Battle Royale mode . The game mode, which is currently extremely popular in the gaming community, will be based on the successful shooter Call of Duty: Warzone

However, it remains to be seen whether those responsible have chosen the right role model for their battle royale plans with Warzone.

..and the old

In addition to the new BR mode, however, the developers also want to return to the old Battlefield values, remain true to classic gameplay mechanics and rely on proven strengths.

In addition to matches with up to64 players there will again befour classes that fulfill different roles. The developers have also decided to completely overhaul the destruction system. It is not yet clear whether this includes vehicles as well as maps

What is certain, however, is that we will once again be able to lay waste to the maps in the usual Battlefield manner.

All info at a glance

  • Up to 64 players per match
  • Four classes/roles with different advantages and disadvantages
  • New destruction system
  • Free2Play Battle Royale mode
  • Set in time between 2025 and 2030

Time-wise, Battlefield will be set in the current era. According to Henderson, the years 2025 – 2030 are being targeted. The arsenal of weapons is therefore likely to be set in the present day and not include futuristic weapons/equipment such as jetpacks, portable laser weapons or flying tanks.

By the way, there is no official name yet, but more details should follow in the next few months, we will of course keep you up to date.
