Portal mode could become a real playground for creative Battlefield players. Leaks show how diverse the server options should be.
The release of Battlefield 2042 is getting closer and numerous fans are already tingling in their fingers to finally put their hands on the mouse and drive, fly, run and jump across the virtual battlefields again. Apart from the normal multiplayer modes and the Hazard Mode, the third major mode called Battlefield Portal could turn out to be the secret star.
New leak reveals numerous possibilities
What’s so fascinating about the mode? This is made clear by a new leak from the dataminers temporyal, who took a closer look at the game files of Battlefield 2042 and discovered a lot of information about the Portal mode. They mainly revolve around the options with which you can put together a custom match according to your own preferences.
Here is an infographic with a small selection of interesting server settings for Battlefield Portal.
⚠️ Note: This is not a final list and does not cover extended customization provided by the logic editor.

temporyal found what it was looking for, so much so that it was enough for an extensive infographic. Not only does it look like an unofficial advertising poster for the shooter, but it also whets the appetite for Portal mode, if all the options presented actually find their way into the final version.
These are the options Battlefield Portal is supposed to offer
- Crossplay: You shall be able to turn cross-platform play on or off.
- Marking of allies: If you like it particularly nerve-racking, you can turn off the visual highlighting of allied teammates, so that you have to look even closer in the heat of battle.
- Tactical Sprint: You can disable the extra speed boost.
- Friendly Fire: No surprise, this safety feature can also be turned off.
- Spawn behaviour in squads: It can be set whether players can spawn directly at squad members or not.
- Health Regeneration: Slow healing over time is also optional.
- Extreme Weather Effects: The extreme weather effects known from Hazard Zone can be added if desired.
- HUD: If you like, you can hide the heads-up display for all players.
- Minimap and Full Map: Both map variants can be permanently hidden.
- Resurrect squad members: Particularly nasty, because this option prevents fallen squad members from being brought back to life.

- Infinite Ammo: Yes, this option promises some action!
Infinite Magazine: Here players also have unlimited ammunition, but still have to pause briefly to reload if the magazine is empty.
- Auto-Reload: Those who want to save time can automate the reload command.
- Early Reload: If this option is deactivated, players must empty the entire magazine before they are allowed to reload.
- Duck: If you value poise, you can prohibit your fellow players from ducking.
- Restricted Aiming: Players can no longer point their weapon downwards.
- Ping behaviour: Ping command can be adjusted in three levels.
- Global Damage Multiplier: Multiplies all damage taken – values below 1.0 reduce damage, values above increase it. You can create deadly one-shot duels or lengthy orgies of hits.
- Target Assist: The crosshairs can automatically target enemies in both Magnetism and Snap-to-Target variants.
Class Specialisations Make a Comeback
Besides these numerous options, the Dataminer claims to have gained another insight from the game files: The class specialisations known from the predecessors are also said to be present in Battlefield Portal. There may even be new traits for the BF1942 faction to better align them with their counterparts from Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3.

By the way, it is still unclear whether there will be stationary guns on the maps in Battlefield 2042. Even in the game files temporyal could not find anything about it. But since Battlefield Portal contains some classic maps on which guns like Flak-38, C-RAM or Kornet exist, the possibility remains.
Now, until the release on 19 November, it is important to prepare optimally for the coming battles. After all, Battlefield 2042 breaks with the class tradition, and many veterans will have to adapt their play style. Our new guide to all Specialists and their abilities will help you with this.
