Battlefield 2042 Secrets in Hazard Zone

The final game mode for the launch of Battlefield 2042 has been confirmed along with its contents: Hazard Zone is similar to Escape from Tarkov and focuses on collecting secret information.

In contrast to the secret information in Hazard Zone, Battlefield’s game mode comes as anything but a surprise. For previous leaks have been confirmed, which reported a similar mode to the survival shooter Escape from Tarkov.

Hazard Zone is the third game mode in Battlefield 2042, alongside Portal and All Out Warfare, and involves collecting data drives stuck in crashed satellites. Up to eight teams with four players each enter the match and try to collect as much secret information as possible. However, it is also important to escape from the scene of the action alive. Because as soon as a team is eliminated, all progress is lost.

The teams can play their matches on seven different maps. These are called: Hourglass, Discarded, Freight List, Kaleidoscope, Orbital, Upheaval and New Beginning. In total, EA is announcing five sub-areas in Hazard Zone:

  • Planning and Equipping
  • Infiltrate
  • Secure
  • Extract
  • Rewards

The official trailer gives the first visual glimpses of Hazard Zone.

Thus, Hazard Zone is a PVPVE mode that pits you not only against other teams, but also against AI opponents that get stronger as the game progresses. Each team must use four different specialists. To enjoy tactical advantages, communication before the start is the be-all and end-all. The same applies to the weapon loadout, which is assembled before the match begins.

Gather secret data and escape

It is important to find the satellite capsules, secure them and get your hands on the data drives inside. It is at these points that there will be multiple battles between the teams. However, the data must also be extracted, for which there are two random extraction windows per game. “To escape alive, skill, tactical planning and a little luck are required,” reads the official Hazard Zone page.

Finally, at least one team member must survive and complete the evacuation to escape with the information and complete the task. Once in the midgame and at the end of the game an evacuation will be possible. If you miss it, you will be empty-handed. For successful missions there are rewards such as a special in-game currency in Hazard Zone – the so-called black market credits. You can use them to buy better equipment in the next game. Experience points are also available.

No Free2Play mode?

Unlike popular battle royale shooters such as Call of Duty: Warzone, Hazard Zone is not to become free-to-play. At least there are no indications of that yet.

Battlefield 2042 will be released in three versions: Standard, Gold and Ultimate. The standard version is the cheapest and costs 60 euros for the PC, 70 euros for PS4 and Xbox One. Those playing on the next-gen consoles will have to pay 80 euros. The release of the shooter is planned for 19 November. Publisher Electronic Arts and developer EA DICE want to sort out the frequently mentioned technical problems from the beta version by then.
