The last major patch for Battlefield 2042 was released on 02 December. Is it worth getting back into the game now and what improvements have been made to the bug-plagued online shooter?

These are the changes EA made in the latest patch for Battlefield 2042

The biggest patch to date for Battlefield 2042 is intended to turn an “Early Access game” into a fully-fledged online multiplayer shooter. At least that is the plan of the developers and the wish of numerous players. They rightly complained about the unfinished version and numerous bugs at the launch of the game. But in addition to damage control, bug fixes and basic balancing, new features are also to be implemented.

From the official developer’s side, it says:

“Weekly missions will be introduced in Battlefield 2042. There will be a total of three different missions per week and players who complete all available missions for the week will receive a unique cosmetic reward. Also, Battlefield Portal will see the addition of some new layouts for game modes in Rush, as well as new templates and options”

These are indeed changes that many players have been asking for. More content and meaningful activities in the game that should provide more variety. Because nothing is worse for a service game like Battlefield 2042 than a content drought. Battlefield 2042 does not have a campaign, which at least in the first few months could hide the lack of online content. Quite in contrast to first-person shooter rival Call of Duty, which got off to a slightly better start last month with Vanguard.

Despite this, the developers’ ambition is apparently high to quickly forget the disastrous launch and appease players with much-needed improvements. Because on top of that, the patch also includes some optimisations to the user interface in and out of combat, with over 150 bug fixes, changes and small improvements to the gameplay, including adjustments to weapons, vehicles, the individual specialists as well as the game maps.
