300 GB hard disk space is being talked about for Black Ops 6. But the situation is not clear-cut
Update from June 11, 2024:
Activision hasnow officially taken a standand clarified that CoD Black Ops 6 will not take up 300 GB of hard disk space on its own. According to the statement, MW2, MW3, Warzone and all DLCs as well as all language packs have already been combined in the size specification. This is “not representative of an average installation experience”. A final size for Black Ops 6 has not yet been announced
Original message from June 10, 2024:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will continue the successful shooter series next October. The 21st installment in the series is a spy action thriller set in the early 1990s.
In case you want to get a first impression of the game: Activision presented first gameplay in a trailer:
However, when the shooter was announced at this year’s Xbox Showcase, the game caused a stir beyond the gameplay content – namely with its presumably immense size!
How big will the installation file be?
Installation size: When the installation size of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was announced at the weekend, some gamers certainly had to look twice. Activision estimated just under 310 gigabytes for the shooter. This size is still listed in the Xbox Store
If this were to happen, then CoD Black Ops 6 would break the boundaries in terms of installation size and would even be larger than CoD Modern Warfare with 180 gigabytes.
Contradiction:In the meantime, however, it is no longer so clear whether the game will really be that big.
The Call of Duty store listing currently says 300GB file. That is for the entire Call of Duty app – with MWII, MWIII, and Black Ops 6 preorder files included right now.
Activision has confirmed that they will be reducing the overall file size once Black Ops 6 launches.

TheCoD portal Charlieintel already posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday that the 300 gigabytes would not only be used for Black Ops 6:
The Call of Duty Store currently lists a 300 GB file. This is for the entire Call of Duty app and currently includes Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III and the pre-order files for Black Ops 6. Activision has confirmed that they will reduce the total file size once Black Ops 6 launches.
A look on June 10at the said storeshows, however, that the total size of the download is given as 149 gigabytes. And that’s only if COD HQ and Warzone are not yet installed. Then it would only be 78 gigabytes
On sales platforms such asSteamor Battle.net, where you can already pre-order the game, information on the installation size is currently completely missing.
At the moment, we can only speculate about the actual size of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Furthermore it says:
This means that you need a constant internet connection to play all game modes, including the campaign. On a console, the campaign can also be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus
Black Ops 6 would not be the first Call of Duty title with a permanent online requirement. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from 2022 already required players to have permanent internet access.
The worldwide multiplayer reveal for Black Ops 6 will take place on August 28. There may be new information on both the installation size and the always-online requirement by this time at the latest.
