The Ranked mode in Warzone 2 has some limitations, but they make the gameplay much fairer than the classic BR mode.

Along with the Season 3 Reloaded update, the Ranked mode for Warzone 2 was finally released. In wise foresight, however, the developers still gave the competitive mode the beta stamp, as there were already problems with the balancing at the beginning.

We have listed all the locked items, weapons, vehicles and more for you.

Not everything works in Ranked Mode

Whoever wants to play the Ranked Mode of Warzone 2 has to be prepared for some changes and restrictions that aim to make the gameplay fairer and more balanced than in the regular Battle Royale.

While some weapons and items were already locked at the launch of the new mode, more restrictions were added over time. The latest changes to hit on 24 May were the thermal sights

All restrictions in Warzone 2-Ranked at a glance:

  • Trio Squads only
  • Al Mazrah only
  • No Mission Shield
  • No Cluster Mines
  • No Bomb Drone
  • No Firesale Event
  • No heavy helicopters
  • No multiple circuits, classic gas circuit only
  • No stone throwing in gulag
  • No thermal sights

Even though the Insertion Shield is the only locked weapon so far, it should only be a matter of time before more shooting irons are banned from Ranked mode. Especially the ISO Hemlock and Cronen Squall are currently a thorn in the side of many players and could be hot candidates for a future ban.

Adieu Thermal Visors

Many players complained shortly after the release of the new mode about the overpowered thermal sights, which can even see through smoke grenades and offer an immense advantage over traditional sights without the use of Cold Blooded.

With the lock, the developers are reacting to the tactic popular among many players of throwing several smoke grenades, especially at the end of a round, in order to then almost effortlessly eliminate their opponents through the dense wall of fog thanks to thermal sights.

As Warzone expert JGOD found out, some visors could detect players even despite Cold Blooded being behind walls of fog, rendering the perk de facto useless.

  • SZ Holotherm
  • VX350-Thermal Visor
  • Teplo OP3 scope
  • Thermo-optics X9
  • Teplo Clear Shot
  • Drexsom Prime-90

Understandably, there is applause from the community for the new restriction and many players are excited to finally be able to remove the Cold Blooded Perk from their loadout.
