Even one of the worst Call of Duty games of all time has achieved record-breaking sales figures
It is undoubtedly one of the most unpopular Call of Duty games of all time and yet has apparently still managed to achieve enormous sales figures. As a former Activision employee has confirmed, Call of Duty: Vanguard is anything but a failure in the popular FPS series.
Surprising figures
It’s just a short LinkedIn entry, but it has a big impact and is currently causing the Call of Duty community to ponder
According to social media strategist Brian Hong, who used to work for Activision, Call of Duty: Vanguard has sold over 30 million copies, more than Modern Warfare 3, which, unlike Vanguard, is considered a huge commercial success.

Although the figures are not officially confirmed by Activision, it can be assumed that they are correct due to the origin of the source.
According to Activision’s own statements, the sales figures for Vanguard fell short of expectations. Which raises the question of where these lay if 30 million copies sold are apparently not enough to achieve them.
Even bad is still good?
While MW3 currently has solid player numbers of around 150,000, Vanguard was already considered a failure shortly after its release and is regarded by many CoD veterans as the black sheep of the first-person shooter series
Even Activision was critical and admitted that Vanguard lacked innovation and had a poorly chosen setting. Many within the community gave the shooter a failing grade and both players and critics on Metacritic hardly left a good hair on Vanguard.
If the figures are indeed correct, which we can currently assume, this would once again be proof of how little influence bad press has on the Call of Duty franchise.
Apparently, CoD has managed to immunize itself against negative criticism and continues to achieve fantastic sales figures regardless of the seemingly general opinion.
