Several dataminers have found clues to the imminent introduction of the popular Gunfight and Gun Game modes in Modern Warfare 2.
The release of Modern Warfare 2 went anything but smoothly, with heaps of features and gameplay elements missing at release. Two of these are the multiplayer game modes Gun Game and Gunfight, which have been a staple of the CoD franchise since 2010”s Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare (2019) respectively. New leaks now suggest that the popular modes could soon appear in MW2 after all.
New modes already in Season 2?
The closer the release of Season 2 gets, the more details come to light. On Twitter, the data miner BKTOOR5 has now published images that point to the extremely popular Gunfight and Gun Game game modes, which were previously missing from Modern Warfare 2”s multiplayer and are considered true community favourites.
The images shown are said to be the logos of the two new game modes. However, it is still unclear whether the modes will appear in Modern Warfare 2”s multiplayer with the Season 2 or the Season 2 Reloaded update.
Technically, MW2 players have been able to play Gun Game since its release at the end of October. However, the mode is only possible in a private lobby and with a modified version of the game.

While Gun Game mode has been present in Call of Duty games since 2010, the newer Gunfight mode was only introduced with Modern Warfare (2019). As recently as June 2022, Infinity Ward had assured the community that both Gunfight and a Rank mode would be released for Modern Warfare 2.
A promise that is now likely to be kept with the release of Season 2.
What are Gun Game and Gunfight?
In Gun Game mode, six players compete in a free-for-all and have to get kills with different weapons one after the other. The first player to make a kill with each weapon wins the game.
If no one manages this and the time has run out, the player with the highest weapon wins. The total number of weapons that have to be played is between 18 and 28, depending on the game. A similar game mode exists in CS:GO under the name Arms Race.
The newer of the two modes – Gunfight – is a 2v2 mode that is similar in many ways to Warzone 2”s Gulag. In a total of 40 seconds we have to eliminate our two opponents, if we fail to do so, a flag appears in the middle of the symmetrical map, which we have to capture within ten seconds.
If we neither eliminate all opponents nor capture the flag, the team with the most life points wins after the time has expired. Both teams have the same equipment, which changes every two rounds. The first team to win six rounds wins the match. There is no life regeneration and each player has only 100 HP.
