Restart failed! Modern Warfare 2 gets off to a disastrous start due to its many bugs and missing features
The long-awaited launch of Modern Warfare 2 was anything but smooth. While players complained about download problems even before the actual release, the true extent of Modern Warfare 2”s problems only became apparent on 28 October.
More bad than good
Actually, Modern Warfare 2 was supposed to open a new chapter. They wanted to get away from the old problems, which brought the bug-plagued Warzone into disrepute again and again. Now, however, it seems as if developer Infinity Ward had a little too much to say. The chaos already announced itself a few days before the official release, when two major updates were released.
Crashes, missing features and bugs in Modern Warfare 2. A lot went wrong with the release and many already see it as the worst in recent Call of Duty history. Although the developers have added several small updates over the weekend to alleviate the biggest problems, players still keep reporting crashes, bugs and glitches. Currently, MW2 runs more poorly than well and makes a rather unfinished impression overall, whose release brings back bad memories of Battlefield 2042.
In addition to random crashes in the middle of the game, the community has to do without various features at the start of Modern Warfare 2 because they don”t work properly or didn”t make it into the game due to time constraints.
Missing Hardcore Mode
The extremely popular Hardcore mode, or as it is to be called in Modern Warfare 2 “Tier 1″, was completely missing at the shooter”s launch. Activision has since announced that the mode will be released on 16 November along with Raid Mode and Warzone 2.0.
Missing stats and challenges
Whoever wants to look into their stats in Modern Warfare 2 can search for a long time. So far, any records of playtime, kills and achievements are missing. Even the famous CoD challenges, at the end of which calling cards often awaited us as a reward, are not available in the game. Whether rare achievements, such as requesting a nuclear bomb after 25 kills without dying, are currently recorded and then credited to you later is unknown.
Wallhack thanks to Ping
Due to a bug, it was possible that when an enemy was pinged, it remained marked for the entire game and was thus visible to all its enemies. The ping system was deactivated by the developers without further ado.

Waffle Tuning
There are also problems with the armourer at the moment. It seems that several players are experiencing repeated crashes due to certain actions in the weaponsmith. The tuning of weapon attachments has been deactivated as a result.
We are disabling attachment tuning until further notice to investigate crashes for users with 5 attachments tuned. If you currently have a tuned attachment equipped, you will need to unequip and reequip it to use your loadout.

Ban without cause
Apparently, some things don”t work quite as they should in Ricochet. Currently, players report being banned from the system even though they play honestly and do not use cheats. Players already reported something similar during the beta phase of Modern Warfare 2.
There is a serious false ban problem going around for CoD MW2, people being perma banned for cheating and appeals insta denied
I have received hundreds of replies and DM”s including from people I trust to not be cheating. Reply if you”ve had similar issues. pic.twitter.com/5KA4DSAoFK

Long way
These are just a few of the current biggest bugs and missing features in Modern Warfare 2 and the list is long. Others, like the party crash bug where players had to endure crashes when they wanted to play together with their friends, were already fixed by the developers over the weekend. Modern Warfare 2”s multiplayer looks unfinished and in some areas more like an Early Access game than a finished full-price title for a hefty €70 or €100.
Even little things like displaying the remaining life of your XP boosters or activating them during an ongoing match are missing, although they were even available in the bugged Warzone. If you want to know how long your XP boost will last, you”d better put an egg timer next to your screen.
Thank you for your patience. We will be deploying a mitigation for party related crashes tomorrow morning (PDT). Update to follow. https://t.co/w9ab6BGk8h

The developers still have a long way to go before the game can be considered finished. Until then, they should do everything they can to appease the community, which is already seething with anger. Unfortunately, it now seems more and more common for publishers to adamantly stick to a release date even though the games are anything but in a finished state. Let”s hope that Infinity Ward solves the problems quickly and adds the missing features soon or activates them again.
