With Warzone 2.0, developer Infinity Ward has also reworked the Gulag. We give you important tips to increase your chances of victory.

With the release of Warzone 2.0, the Gulag has been thoroughly reworked. Instead of the previous duel, two duos will now compete against each other. We tell you how you can increase the chances of winning your Gulag battle.

Revolution becomes Evolution

When Warzone was released in 2020, it really shook up the Battle Royale scene thanks to its revolutionary Redeploy system. While in most other BR shooters like Fortnite or PUBG, the game was over for players after they were eliminated, in Warzone players were given a second chance and could fight their way back into the game by winning the Gulag.

With the changes in Warzone 2.0, the Gulag has now reached the next stage of evolution. Instead of competing in a 1 vs. 1 match as before, we will now fight against an opposing duo with a random partner. The team that manages to eliminate both opponents gets to go back into the match.

If the fight lasts too long, the jailer of the gulag intervenes personally. Heavily armoured and armed with my minigun, he shoots at anyone who gets in his way. If we manage to defeat him, however, all four players are even allowed back into the game.

Tip 1 – Communication wins

Since in most cases you will be facing a complete stranger in the gulag, it is especially important to communicate quickly and effectively. You will only have a few seconds to prepare before the fight begins. You should therefore avoid long greetings and rounds of introductions in the chat.

Plug in your microphone and brush up on your school English before the match starts so that you can communicate with your teammate as quickly and efficiently as possible.

If you play as a duo, trio or quad and one of your teammates is also waiting for his match in the Gulag, you may compete together, which will give you an immense advantage over a randomly assembled team.

Tip 2 – Stay together!

The new Gulag is not for lone wolves. If you go into battle alone thinking you are Rambo, you will usually lose. Try to play the same side of the Gulag as your fellow inmate and stay together.

Even if you get taken out, your teammate can do the refrag and still has a good chance to get the win for your team in the subsequent 1-on-1.

Tip 3 – The flanks are your friends

Similar to Modern Warfare 2 maps, you should also avoid the middle of the map in Gulag. If you have a wall behind you, you can’t get shot in the back. Your game will be much easier if you don’t have to search the full 360 degrees around you for enemies.

In addition, try to reach an elevated position to increase your view over the field to a maximum.

Tip 4 – Use the Groundloot

Having already thrown your initial Hand Grenade, Semtex or Flashing Grenade, you should look around. Scattered all over the floor of the gulag is primary and tactical equipment that you can use to drive your opponents out of cover or confuse them.

Tip 5 – All on the Fat Man

The last tip is admittedly quite risky and requires attentive and benevolent opponents. As soon as the jailer has entered the playing field, you should immediately take it under fire. With a bit of luck, your opponents will understand what you’re up to, as you can see in this video, and help you in your quest to take down the armoured behemoth.

Although this method is theoretically the best option for all four players, it is probably the least likely to be chosen due to lack of collusion and distrust.
