All info on the release of CoD Modern Warfare 2

When will CoD Modern Warfare 2 be released? Mark your calendars for Friday, October 28, 2022 as the release date!

Wait, CoD Modern Warfare 2 already exists? Because the title easily causes confusion: this is the sequel to the MW reboot from 2019, not a remake of Modern Warfare 2 (2009). So you can expect a completely new storyline.

For which platforms will CoD Modern Warfare 2 be released? Unofficially confirmed through leaks is the release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. There are supposedly hints of a beta for PS4 and PS5 hidden in the data of a Vanguard update, which means Modern Warfare 2 is also coming for LastGen.

When is the big Reveal coming? There’s no official date for that yet either, but in the trailer sharp eagle eyes have spotted the conspicuously-unobtrusively placed date of “June 8, 2022” (watch at minute 0:44). This fits exactly with earlier leaks promising a big reveal with gameplay scenes on 8 June.

Is there a beta? It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but in recent years there has always been a beta phase playable. Usually this is open to PlayStation players first. According to dataminers, this will also be the case for MW2, as CharlieIntel, among others, announces:

What do trailers and artwork reveal about CoD MW2?

MW veterans can look forward to the return of some old familiar characters. The official artwork confirms: (Ghost, Price, Gaz and Soap) from Task Force 141 are back on board. New is Mexican operator Alejandro Vargas.

If you look closely, the teaser images reveal even more: maps of possible locations are embedded in the faces! Well-known leaker Tom Henderson lists the real-life locations that can be spotted on Operator Ghost: the coast from California to Mexico and Chicago, Illinois.

This fits perfectly with the setting that leaks have been announcing for some time. This time, drug cartels are supposed to play a central role – and on the Mexican coast, exactly those are very active.

New Era for Call of Duty? The official CoD blog announces the start of a whole new era for the shooter series. Of course, these could be classic marketing phrases. But several well-known leakers also believe that a new era is being ushered in, including (ModernWarzone) and CharlieIntel. The two channels usually do not spare with clear criticism of CoD. They do not comment on it in more detail, but refer to the upcoming Reveal.

We will of course keep you up to date as soon as something new happens with Call of Duty! After all, there are still some reveals to come for Warzone 2, which wants to iron out the mistakes of its predecessor and will apparently be very, very different.
