Numerous bugs and other problems are on the update”s hit list. PC players get a very special treat with DLSS3

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has been out for just under a week and the first patch is now available. The update weighs in at around 8 GB. Interesting: According to a note in the official patch notes (which you can find as always on page 2 of this article!) not all of the planned changes have made it into this update

The team is still working hard on important changes regarding movement, weapon balancing in multiplayer, gameplay in Zombies mode and other stability improvements.

More performance on Nvidia systems thanks to DLSS3

Modern Warfare 3 already supported the common upscaling technologies DLSS2, FSR2 and Intel”s XeSS at release. The new patch now reaches into the technology box again and updates Nvidia”s DLSS to version 3 including Frame Generation

If you have an RTX 4000 graphics card and are still struggling with one or two performance problems, DLSS3 should give you a massive speed boost. By the way, a look at our tuning guide won”t hurt either:

What else does the patch bring?

  • Fixed a number of crashes on PC related to the game startup process.
  • Several cryptic error messages such as DEV ERROR 12510 should now be a thing of the past.
  • You will now also receive the Completion Achievements if you skip the credits of the game, you impatient sly bastards.
  • In multiplayer, the height difference (above or below you) of your opponent is now displayed correctly on the minimap.
  • The score limit in Team Deathmatch has been increased from 75 to 100.
  • Multiple weapons are now easier to control when firing from the hip.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 – Patch Notes – September 15, 2023

Due to unforeseen issues, not all changes planned for today”s update could be released. Our teams are working hard to incorporate important movement changes, multiplayer weapon balancing, gameplay and stability fixes for zombies, and more into the next available update.

Global

COD HQ

  • Players will no longer encounter a blank screen where MWIII tiles are expected.
  • Fixed an issue for console players where switching from one game to another would break groups that contained a player with a split screen.
  • Fixed an issue for PC players where selective installs were not available to play after completing the install.
  • A fix has been implemented to resolve multiple crashes that occurred during the application launch sequence.

Stability & Performance

  • PC gamers with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs can now enjoy DLSS 3 in all modes of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III. With DLSS NVIDIA Super Resolution and Frame Generation, DLSS 3 multiplies performance by up to 1.8x to enhance the PC experience.
  • Fixed a bug where some console players were experiencing an error when invited to a party.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some console players to be moved to the main menu after selecting certain items in the Battle Pass.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some players to be sent back to the multiplayer lobby after attempting to make a match in any playlist.
  • Fixed account-based issues that prevented offline play.

Campaign

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed a crash that occurred for PC players during the game restart sequence after an update.
  • Fixed a bug that caused players to receive an error message when attempting to start the campaign.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in the error message DEV ERROR 12510 after attempting to start the mission Operation 627.
  • Fixed an issue where players were forced to skip cinematic cutscenes when a controller was not connected.
  • Fixed several game crashes in the Oligarch mission.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred after using a cruise missile in the mission “Reactor”.

Gameplay

  • Completion rewards are now correctly awarded when the player closes the application during the credits sequence.
  • The “141 Ready” achievement now correctly displays the lowest difficulty level used to complete a mission.
  • Fixed a bug where the functionality of all ziplines and ascenders on the map disappeared after canceling an ascent animation.
  • Fixed a bug where the player could not interact with equipment while rapidly drawing a handgun.

Multiplayer

  • Bug fixes
    • The height of the opposing player is now displayed correctly on the minimap.
    • Fixed a bug that could cause playlists to disappear from the main menu for some console players.
    • The prompt to display the player map on the scoreboard now works as expected for console players.
    • When a player is promoted to party leader, they can no longer attempt to take over locked playlists.

    • Fixed an issue that prevented bolt attachments from being unlocked at the expected weapon level for the KATT-AMR (Sniper Rifle).
  • Challenges
    • New requirements have been introduced for the “Priceless Camouflage” challenge for the WSP Swarm (submachine gun).
      • Achieve 10 Operator double kills in Tac Stance
    • Fixed issues that prevented progress from being tracked on completion for some challenges.
    • Fixed conditions for unlocking challenges for BBQ (Operator).

Maps

  • Terminal
    • Players can no longer shoot at the A-bomb station from an unintended location in Search and Destroy.
  • Popov Power
    • Players no longer spawn in enemy territory in “Invasion” mode.

Modes

  • Team Deathmatch
    • The maximum score in the game has been increased from 75 to 100.
  • Ground War
    • Fixed an issue that caused a DEV ERROR 841 during normal gameplay.

      • Thermo-Optic X9 and SZ VORTEX-90 optical attachments can now be switched as expected.

    • Odin”s judgment (trigger action)
      • The reaction time of the trigger has been shortened to the intended duration of 210 ms.

Cosmetics

  • The sound on the weapon screen now plays as expected when the preview button is pressed.
  • Tracer Pack: Hellsing Operator Bundle
    • Fixed a bug where Alucard was missing his handgun in the Operator preview.

ZOMBIES

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue that prevented Act 2 and Act 3 missions from automatically queuing while in-game.

Stability

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when players navigated to the “Loading” or “Progress” tab in the start menu while queuing.
