But sooner than thought? A new leak hints at the launch of Ranked Mode in Modern Warfare II.

Is Ranked mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II sooner than we thought? A new leak claims so and gives the community hope.

Ranked already shortly after release?

After the recent announcement that the Modern Warfare II beta will be delayed by a whole month, now comes some good news for a change. As the CoD leaker TheGhostOfHope claims on Twitter, the Ranked Mode of Modern Warfare II will be introduced shortly after the official release on 28 October. Until now, it was assumed that the mode would only be implemented months after the game’s release. According to the information from TheGhostOfHope, the ranked mode is being developed by Treyarch and is said to resemble the system of its predecessor from Vanguard. The development studio Treyarch is considered a fan favourite within the Call of Duty scene and has already gained experience with a ranked mode in Vanguard.

Because Call of Duty is primarily aimed at casual gamers and places less emphasis on the competitive and pro scene, no one expected Ranked Mode to be introduced so early. In CoD: Vanguard, for example, the ranked mode only started with the Season 2 update three months after the game’s release. In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, too, it took months before the community could compete against each other in an Elo system. Since TheGhostOfHope didn’t give an exact date for the mode’s launch, we can only hope that this time it will be quicker and we won’t have to wait until early 2023 for it.

It would be the first time a Call of Duty developed by Infinity Ward gets a ranked mode. Neither Ghosts, Infinite Warfare nor Modern Warfare from 2019 had a ranked mode,

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II will be released on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox one and Xbox Series X/S.
