Two big Call of Duty releases are coming soon. What happens to CoD points you”ve bought but not yet spent?

The new Call of Duty double is trotting along with great strides: on 28 October 2022, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be released, followed by the Battle Royale Warzone 2 on 16 November. Shortly before release, many are once again wondering what actually happens to CoD points – can they expire or are they transferred? We explain the system.

“What are CoD points? This is the Call of Duty currency that you buy for real money and then redeem for skins, Battle Pass or Operators. You can find them in the official Battle.net shop, either for yourself or to give to friends. “

What you should know about CoD Points

Will the CoD points be transferred?

Until now, your unredeemed points were always carried over to the next Call of Duty when a new part was released. To be on the safe side, we have asked Activision again whether this will also be the case this time – and yes, your CoD Points will remain safely on your Activision account. This happens automatically. Should you encounter any problems, please contact (official support)!

Does this also apply to Steam?

It doesn”t matter in this case whether you buy Modern Warfare 2 via Battle.net or via Steam. In both cases you need an Activision account, to which your CoD points account is linked. Just make sure you use the account you already have – but that goes without saying.

What about my skins?

Watch out, you can”t take purchased content from the predecessors with you, unlike in Overwatch 2! For example, you cannot transfer skins from Warzone to Warzone 2. Such content will still be available in the game in which you purchased it.

(Your skins will stay in Warzone, as Warzone 2 will be a game all its own.)

Can I transfer CoD points from PC to console?

Transferring CoD points is possible between different devices, but only as long as they correspond to the same platform – for example between different PS5. But not cross-platform from PC to PlayStation or Xbox and also not between the two consoles! However, this only applies to the points themselves, you will always have access to the content purchased with your points as long as you use the same Activision account – whether PC, Xbox or PlayStation.

Also, since Modern Warfare 2019, your game progress is stored in the Activision account and not on the respective device.

Can I transfer CoD points to another account?

Transferring between Activision accounts is not possible. When you purchase points, they will be inextricably linked to the account specified. You cannot give CoD points that you do not use to friends or to your secondary account. This only works if you select the “Give away” option directly when purchasing in the Battle.net shop and enter the person receiving the gift.

So you don”t have to worry about your credit for the release of MW2 and Warzone 2. And we also have good news regarding the series” notorious hunger for storage space: This time, separate installation is possible!
