No matter what features Modern Warfare 2 will have in the bag: Fans on Reddit agree that there are three things they just don’t want to see make a comeback.

What was an open secret anyway was officially confirmed a few weeks ago: The Call of Duty of 2022 will be called Modern Warfare 2 and thus a kind of reinterpretation of the series spin-off of the same name from 2009.

Compared to its direct predecessor Call of Duty: Vanguard, players can of course expect some innovations and changes in terms of gameplay and features. The large fan community has already exchanged views on this topic on Reddit and identified three things that they do not want to see again in Modern Warfare 2.

Less grind, return of factions

What’s on the community’s wish list? Three features of Vanguard in particular pissed off fans, which is why it’s no surprise that they’d like to see their abstinence in Modern Warfare 2:

* Less Weapon Grind: In Vanguard’s multiplayer mode, the weapon levels caused displeasure. Every gun could be improved up to level 70. But the XP required for this meant one thing above all: a lot of grinding, i.e. seemingly endless playing, if you didn’t enjoy the luxury of temporarily doubled experience points. Fans therefore hope that Modern Warfare 2 will move away from this feature or at least make leveling faster.

* Abandonment of factions: In previous Call of Dutys, players could join different factions, which also made the character models on the maps visually distinct from each other. In Vanguard, the developers did away with factions and let players choose between skins. This often led to confusion and bizarre situations, such as when both teams were visually identical down to the hair.

* The Team MVP Screen: Experienced Vanguard players will probably already be nodding knowingly and with a pained face at this point. Because the MVP screen (MVP =  most valuable player) that fades in after every match ends belongs abolished for many fans. There are a few reasons: You can’t skip the time-consuming screen even if you don’t care for it. Moreover, the amount of XP you get as a reward for being voted MVP is ridiculously low and doesn’t even correspond to a regular kill during a game.

Another feature that Modern Warfare 2 is also rumoured to overhaul is skill-based matchmaking, or SBMM for short. You can find out what this is all about here:

Doors and windows should no longer be obstacles

And what about the thread creator? You see, the Reddit thread met with more than lively participation. But what’s at the top of the hit list for the thread creator? He is most bothered by doors and windows. Not their mere existence, which would be absurd, but their penchant for making it as difficult as possible for players to pass through them.

According to the thread creator, many deaths occur simply because you get stuck on doors and windows, which is just annoying.

Obviously there is still a need to catch up with the collision detection of the game engine. In addition, it is said that at such narrow points on the map there is always the problem that another player is in the door or window frame and does not move.

It remains to be seen whether the developer Infinity Ward will really improve some of these points in Modern Warfare 2. By the way, the entire Call of Duty franchise could also change, namely due to the new owner Microsoft. At least that’s what Phil thinks, who sees this as a huge opportunity for the brand.

Reddit is all well and good, but how do things look in the GlobalESportNews community? What features would you like to see in Modern Warfare 2, and what aspects of Vanguard would you like to see fall by the wayside? Write us your opinion in the comments
