What requirements does your computer have to meet in order to play CoD Vanguard smoothly? We analyse how much performance you need.
Call of Duty: Vanguard casts its shadow ahead. From 5 November 2021, you can once again plunge into the battlefields of the Second World War in both single and multiplayer. To ensure that the gaming experience does not come to a standstill, your PC must of course meet certain requirements. We have taken a detailed look at the demands that Vanguard places on your hardware.
The system requirements of CoD Vanguard in detail
It should be said in advance: If the 2019 Modern Warfare ran smoothly for you, Vanguard should also be no problem for your PC. After all, both games rely on the same engine (IW 8) and are similar in many other respects. Sledgehammer Games did not mention the minimum and recommended requirements for the screen resolution, but in view of what was shown, we assume Full HD.
Minimum System Requirements
For the sake of clarity, let’s go step by step and look at the minimum system requirements first. These are extremely low and should be met even by an old gaming PC. A more than old CPU like an AMD FX-6300 (release 2013!) is already sufficient. The 8 GB of RAM and a Geforce GTX 960 or Radeon RX 470 graphics card should not be too much of an obstacle either.
If you only want to play the multiplayer and zombie mode, only 36 GB of hard disk space is required. If you want to play high-resolution textures, however, this value almost doubles to 68 GB.
- Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- CPU / Processor: Intel Core i3-4340 or AMD FX-6300
- RAM / Memory: 8 GB
- GPU / Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 470
- V-RAM: 2 GB
- Disk space: 36 GB (Multiplayer and Zombies only) plus optional 32 GB (High-Resolution Assets)
Recommended System Requirements
If you want to turn most of the controls to the max in Full HD, the requirements also increase significantly. But again, those of you who have upgraded in the last three to four years should not expect any problems. Now, however, a more modern processor and a more powerful GPU are required.
Vanguard requires 61 GB on the hard disk if you install all components of the game. High-resolution textures in all virtual situations are available for an additional 32 GB, making a total of 93 GB.
- Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU / Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
- RAM / Memory: 12 GB
- GPU / Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580
- V-RAM: 4 GB
- Disk space: 61 GB (campaign, multiplayer and zombies) plus optional 32 GB (high-resolution assets)
Competitive System Requirements
What the developers mean by the term competitive remains open. We interpret this specification as a guarantee that you will always achieve high frame rates in multiplayer games in order not to have to accept a competitive disadvantage.
The requirements increase accordingly. A powerful six- or eight-core CPU as well as a Geforce RTX 2070 or Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card must now do their job inside your case if high FPS are indispensable to you.
- Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU / Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
- RAM / Memory: 16 GB
- GPU / Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2070 / RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
- V-RAM: 8 GB
- Disk space: 61 GB (campaign, multiplayer and zombies) plus optional 32 GB (high-resolution assets)
And what are the requirements for 4K/Ultra?
If you are only satisfied with the best of the best and want to experience Vanguard in all its glory in 4K, you should own a high-end computer. But: Then the new Call of Duty will also look really good, see for yourself:
While the demands on the processor and memory are no higher than in the competitive specs. But in 4K, the many assets take their toll and require a graphics card with at least 10 GB of video memory (VRAM), so that there is no image stuttering or unsightly mud textures that result from reloading from the slower main memory.
Specifically, a Geforce RTX 3080 or a Radeon RX 6800 XT are mentioned so that you are on the safe side. Due to the high resolution, your hard drive will be filled with an additional 64 GB of hard drive space for the high-res assets in addition to the required 61 GB.
