While the sequel still seems a long way off, Call of Duty: Warzone is moving more than it has in a long time.

The Call of Duty: Warzone live service is humming like a machine. At Season 3 Reloaded, halfway through the third season in the Vanguard era, developer Raven Software is turning a lot of things inside out. Among them is a parameter that fans have become accustomed to for three years: the player numbers.

We summarise the most important points from the huge mid-season update called Classified Arms Reloaded here. If you are also interested in the sequel Call of Duty: Warzone 2, we will of course be happy to help you. Here you can find the latest official and unofficial info:

CoD Warzone 2 to come as early as 2023 and be a whole new game

Reduced player numbers

Developer Raven is reducing the number of players per match to 120 players. Previously, 150 warriors went head-to-head in the Battle Royale. According to Raven, this is an experiment to make the midgame on the new map Caldera less unfair and claustrophobic.

At the same time, however, the developers explain that they now want to keep a close eye on the data and opinions of the players to determine whether the adjustment keeps the game experience at a fun level.

However, the larger player numbers are not really going away. At the same time, a new mode for 150 players will also be introduced.

New mode: Champion of Caldera

Champion of Caldera reads like classic Battle Royale on paper – only harder. 150 players jump over the map and fight to be the last one alive. So far, so familiar. With one important difference: the circle, which closes in phases in normal Battle Royale, continuously shrinks in Champion of Caldera.

This should make for much more hectic battles and a constant flow of movement. To make this possible at all, players start with their personal loadout, a gas mask against the deadly zone and a revival token.

Also important: kills immediately regenerate the complete life energy and replenish the ammunition, which rewards aggressive play styles in particular.

Speaking of Caldera: The new map now also has a function in classic Battle Royale that already changed the flow of the game in Verdansk.

New underground on Caldera

The Pacific warzone map Caldera gets an underground system with Season 3 Reloaded, similar to the one on the predecessor map Verdansk. Each of the towns on Caldera has a stop. This allows players to move quickly through the landscape.

On the map you can see the connections and travel directions:

New Perk: Serpentine

CoD: Warzone gets a new perk from Call of Duty: Vanguard with Serpentine. The perk ensures that you take less damage while sprinting. The new perk allows users to better dart from cover to cover and remain more flexible in battles, but also to cross large and open areas more safely.

Attackers will recognise it by a symbol appearing when they shoot at Serpentine users. This tells you to adjust your tactics accordingly.

These are only the biggest innovations of CoD Warzone: Season 3 Reloaded. You can find the complete patch notes on the (official website).
