Vanguard, Warzone, Black Ops – how are all these games connected? Is there crossplay, crossprogression, crosssave? Or other crosses? Our answers.

Some of the coolest trends of the last few years have to do with the word cross. Crosssave, Crossprogression, Crossplay, Animal Crossing – okay, you’re not here for Animal Crossing, but you are here for the other three features. After all, Call of Duty: Warzone, Vanguard, Black Ops and Modern Warfare are all linked together, some of you have been playing with the same account since 2019 and are now no doubt wondering, “Which of these can I keep in Vanguard – and who can I play Vanguard with and where?

Thankfully, there are very encouraging answers to these questions, so let’s take a closer look.

Does CoD Vanguard support crossplay?

Yes, Call of Duty Vanguard will support crossplay across all platforms – even across console generations. Your circle of friends can own the game on (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X and PC) and still all play together. However, you should of course consider punishing your PS5 mate for picking up a PS5 somewhere and not letting you know.

How about Crosssave?

If for some reason you play Warzone on Xbox but want to play Vanguard on PC, again you don’t have to worry about compatibility. Vanguard and Warzone support crosssave across all platforms. All you need is an Activision account linked to your PlayStation, Microsoft or Battle.net account. The best way to find out how this works in detail is to ask Activision directly ().

Whoever purchases the Battle Pass in Call of Duty Vanguard can level it up in all CoD modes since Modern Warfare. So:

Whoever purchases the Battle Pass in Call of Duty Vanguard can level it up in all CoD modes since Modern Warfare. So:

  • In regular multiplayer including Spec-Ops co-op from Modern Warfare.
  • In Call of Duty: Warzone.
  • In regular multiplayer of CoD Black Ops: Cold War.
  • In the zombie mode of Black Ops.
  • In all modes of CoD Vanguard, i.e. multiplayer and zombies.

In Warzone everything comes together. There you can use the weapons and unlocks from all CoDs, but conversely the system has limits. The guns from Cold War and Modern Warfare are of course reserved for their respective games in regular multiplayer. So you won’t be able to use weapons from Modern Warfare in Vanguard (with the exception of Warzone).

But yes, if you keep switching between Black Ops, Modern Warfare and Vanguard, your Battle Pass progress will remain constant across all games.

How is Warzone related to Vanguard?
