Elden Ring is hard, but also forbiddenly hard? This player has an absurd theory and wants to challenge FromSoftware in court
It’s no secret that FromSoftware games likeElden Ringare pretty hard. Even thehead of the studio has had his problemsplaying through his own title. Now, however, one player has theorized that there is far more to the high difficulty level than a mere gameplay challenge and is accusing the studio of a crazy conspiracy.
Bizarre difficulty conspiracy?
On the controversial imageboard 4chan, a user has claimed to be suing FromSoftware because the game is depriving players of content due to its difficulty. You can see the dubious postings on Twitter:
there’s a guy on 4chan who’s planning to sue Fromsoft because he thinks there’s more of Elden Ring that’s inaccessible to the average player pic.twitter.com/jCESV6HqbT

In his 4chan entries, the user says that we have only unlocked half of Elden Ring and other FromSoftware games so far. The hidden content is not accessible to even the most talented players. For this reason, he will confront the studio with his accusations in court at the end of September
But what makes him think that? He bases his suspicions on the fact that the developers keep dropping little hints that are supposed to point to secret game content. These include, for example, depictions of a “Ninja Genichiro” in a Sekiro Art Book. The 4chan user does not want to accept the fact that this is merely concept art as a counter-argument. For him, the evidence is piling up too much
In addition to various FromSoftware titles, NES games have also been affected by this practice for 38 years. Dataminers have never been able to find solid evidence for this theory, which is why it still cannot be clearly proven to this day, which is a very daring thesis.
In any case, we can reveal these secrets inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree :
These are the reactions on the Internet
All in all, the comments seem rather bizarre and many social media users suspect either a troll posting or someone who is rather disillusioned behind the action.
Justin Leeper replies under the Twitter post:
As a narrative designer, I’ve written tons of backstory, lore, and biography texts. They are meant to help writers create context and make design and art decisions. Players will never see them – or most of the concept art.
This person has no idea about creating or how games are made.
Twitter user Augment_GEAR suspects:
It could actually be true, but only for him
Others take it with humor, like Twitter user karlgerm:
If you go deep enough into a cave in the base game, you’ll come out the other side in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
It may be true that there are many secrets to discover in Elden Ring, but the scale described seems very extreme. Whether the allegations will ultimately stand up in court and what the outcome of a trial would be remains to be seen. In any case, FromSoftware has not yet commented on the incident.
What do you think about these theories? Could there be something to it or do you think it’s nonsense? Let us know in the comments
