A brand new anti-cheat for Call of Duty could be on the way. According to leaker Tom Henderson, the system is being developed for the upcoming title CoD: Vanguard and is also said to affect the Battle Royale Warzone.

Hackers and cheaters are to be dealt with earlier than was previously possible. Due to the high number of hack accounts in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and the Battle Royale Warzone, publisher Activision is to react accordingly. A new anti-cheat is expected for the upcoming title Vanguard at the end of the year.

“A new anti-cheat system for the next Call of Duty title has been in development for over a year,” insider and leaker Tom Henderson wrote via Twitter on Thursday. “The same system will be used in Warzone,” Henderson adds, fuelling new discussions about better times in the cheat-infested FPS series.

A confirmation of these statements by Henderson is currently lacking from publisher Activision or developer Ravensoftware. However, the latter may be providing indirect confirmation. On Wednesday, Raven Software reported a renewed mass ban of over 50,000 accounts in CoD: Warzone. In addition, the following announcement was added: “We are listening and working hard behind the scenes. We will have more information for you soon.

For months, the most requested change from the community has been an improved anti-cheat for Call of Duty and Warzone. Accordingly, Raven Software’s tweet offers new speculation on upcoming changes regarding cheater and hacker crackdowns.

Since the release of CoD: Warzone in March 2020, hundreds of thousands of accounts have been suspended by Activision and the development teams. But the cheating wave continues to this day, also due to a flawed anti-cheat system. For a month now, there has even been certainty about AI-based cheating, which can trick the system with machine-learning technology. For most, Warzone has become unplayable, as the wide-ranging CoD streamer NICKMERCS also noted, and at the same time announced that he would distance himself from the game for the time being.
