What was meant to be an April Fool’s joke by the developers is currently splitting the Warzone community into two camps.

Warzone developer Raven Software allowed itself an April Fool’s joke on Friday, which by no means everyone found funny. Mockery and criticism from the community were not long in coming.

Funny or annoying?

As this year’s April Fool’s joke, the Warzone developers thought to release an update that completely turns the game on its head. No drop damage, players will be catapulted into the air on hits and many more crazy changes were meant to sweeten April 1st for the community.

While many of the Warzone players celebrated the update and CoD pro Swagg even went so far as to call it the best update in a long time, many were annoyed that Raven Software obviously has enough time and resources to release a fun update but doesn’t fix critical bugs, some of which have been in the game for weeks. As is often the case with Warzone updates, opinions differ and even though the April Fool’s joke was probably well-intentioned, Raven Software is adding fuel to the fire.

 Criticism of the action

Quickly, calls were made on Reddit for the developers to fix their game first before making any April Fool’s jokes. Many players even went so far as to avoid the game completely in the last few days. Many also made their voices heard on Twitter and responded to Raven Software’s tweet with questions such as “When will you fix Battle Pass?” or “Please fix the game first”.

Even though the Season 2 Reloaded update recently fixed some bugs, Warzone still has a lot of issues while new bugs are added weekly. Doubts about whether the game will ever be bug free have been around for months, and while an action like this is meant to be funny to some, it suggests that the developers may not currently be taking the state of their game as seriously as they need to.
