Call of Duty Vanguard has been subject to numerous leaks and rumours in recent days. What is surprising, however, is the reaction with which the developers are making a statement.
In the past few days, some information about the new CoD part leaked out, including the official artwork and clips from the Reveal trailer. Leaks and rumours are really not a new problem for Call of Duty. What is new, however, is the reaction of the developers to the latest wave of leaks about CoD Vanguard. Because this could set an unexpected sign for the future.

What happened?
Within hours of the CoD Vanguard leaks, Call of Duty’s official Twitter page posted an unexpectedly humorous response – a few seconds from said reveal trailer along with the words leaks and rumours. Below that, a tongue-in-cheek “Oh crap, wait. ”

Raven Software, the developers behind CoD Warzone also jumped on the bandwagon and responded with a “May you? ”

Also, Sledgehammer Games, who are responsible for the new part CoD Vanguard, take the leaks with humour and post a meme with teleshopping legend Phil Swift and his flex tape:

Why is that so surprising?
To call this approach atypical of Call of Duty leaks would be an understatement. Until now, previously leaked information was removed from the net as quickly as possible and hushed up.
The leaked material was deleted, but instead of sweeping the information under the carpet, the developers seem to be taking it easy – and even posted a clip from the not-yet-officially-released Reveal trailer themselves.
In doing so, they indirectly confirm the credibility of the trailer material that has been deleted in the meantime and also the setting in World War II, which has been the subject of speculation for a while now.
The community reacts enthusiastically
This change of course does not go unnoticed by the big names of the CoD community. Tom Henderson confirmed on Twitter that the clip shown was from the leaked Reveal trailer, adding “Honestly, I love how they’re handling it… ”
This is from the Vanguard reveal trailer.
Absolutely love this approach by them tbh… https://t.co/LPDeTKTS8p

MW2 OG also reacts enthusiastically to Sledgehammer Games’ meme: “They’re finally using the memes that were used against them. Love seeing that. ”

Fans are also playing the game enthusiastically, responding with numerous memes and demanding more info. So by all accounts, this new approach to leaks is not the worst idea.
A sign of things to come?
Possible that this is the beginning of a new leak policy around Call of Duty. After all, sometimes attack is the best defence – and if you can’t stop all pre-release leaks, perhaps the best idea is to confirm selected info and take the whole thing with humour.
