Even before the official release of Season 2, the developers of Warzone 2 have released some of the patch notes. Here”s what”s inside.
Tons of changes
It”s high time that something happens in Call of Duty before the Battle Royale shooter loses even more players.
In addition to countless bugs, glitches and an out-of-control anti-cheat system, extremely unpopular decisions have been made again and again in the past regarding the gameplay in Warzone 2.
We want to share some updates coming to Season 02 for Multiplayer, DMZ and Battle Royale with our community.

While some of these, such as loadouts drops at Buy Stations, Gulag changes or the low number of Buy Stations on Al Mazrah, have already been retracted, we still have to wait until 15 February for others.
In a (blog entry) developer Infinity Ward and Raven Software have now published the planned improvements for Season 2. These are in part profound changes to Warzone 2.0 and the DMZ.
Under the name “Community Update”, Call of Duty”s official Twitter account announced the planned changes on 25 January. In fact, many of the planned changes take into account fan requests and address feedback from the community.

Gulag
As Raven Software announced back on January 19, Gulag will once again be a regular 1v1 instead of 2v2. Also the prison guard, who caused partly chaotic conditions in the Gulag after a short period of time, will be removed
Instead, there will again be a flag in the middle of the playing field, which will appear after 30 seconds and can be captured for victory.
Changes to the Gulag in Season 2
- 1v1 instead of 2v2
- prison guard is removed
- Flag in the middle of the field (like in Warzone Caldera)
- We can start the match with SMGs, ARs and LMGs in the future (no shotguns)
- Floor loot has been adjusted (money added)
- More money if we survive the gulag
1v1”s are back in Battle Royale.

Money system
Also this news was already announced by Raven Software via Twitter on 23 January. One of the main criticisms of Warzone 2.0 is finally to be fixed with Season 2. Empty wallets could soon be a thing of the past with the planned changes.
Changes to the money system in Season 2
- Bundles of money lying on the floor increased to at least $800
- Money in cash registers increased from minimum $100 to $500
Cash 📈
Prices 📉There will be more lootable cash available in Battle Royale and prices are getting balanced to give you more bang for your buck in Season 02!
We”ll be sharing more details about Warzone 2.0 changes in this week”s studio blog.

Loot system
The fiddly loot system with individual windows is to disappear from Warzone 2 with Season 2. Instead we get back the all familiar system from Warzone Caldera, which should drastically reduce the amount of time we spend looting.
Changes to the Loot System in Season 2
- Loot system from Warzone Caldera will be reintroduced (“Vomit-Loot”)
- No more different backpack sizes
- Everybody has the same backpack size the whole match
Loadouts
With Season 2, changeable perk packs are returning to Warzone 2.0 Previously, we had to choose a perk pack preset by the developers and could not create our own combinations of perks. This is now to come to an end.
In addition, the prices for weapons and loadout drops at the Buy Stations will be reduced.
Changes to the Loadouts in Season 2
- Creation of individual perk packages possible
- Reduced selection of perks to be expanded piece by piece
- More random loadout drops
- Reduced prices for weapons and loadout drops
- Loadout drops available unlimited at Buy Stations
- Loadout markers can be found in crates (very rare)
Battle Royale looting changes, and many more, are coming with Season 02!
Player eliminations and all loot containers will now pop floating loot out onto the floor!

armour plates
From 15 February, the different sized armour plate holders will be banned from Warzone 2. Instead, all players will receive waistcoats of the same size with slots for three armour plates.
The developers are thus returning to the familiar system from Warzone Caldera and at the same time slowing down TTK, which was one of the big criticisms from the community.
Changes to armour in Season 2
- No different armour plate holders
- Each player starts with a 3 player armour plate holder
- TTK is slowed down thanks to extra HP
Strongholds & Black Sites
Strongholds and Black Sites will be completely reworked in Season 2. In addition to new rewards, the AI will also be improved.
Many players have complained that the bots are too strong and that attacking Strongholds and Black Sites is hardly worth it.
Changes to Strongholds/Black Sites in Season 2
- KI soldiers will be adjusted
- New rewards (kill series, blueprints, etc.)
- Alternative playstyle in Warzone 2.0 to be encouraged more
Other changes at a glance
- The speed while putting on armour plates has been slightly increased
- We can now smash doors while creating plates
- The location of buy stations has been adjusted/improved
- Improved system stability
- Miscellaneous bug fixes
- Weapon balancing
- New Weapons
- Improvement of the User Inferface
- Improvement to the sound
The list of changes should continue to grow until the release of Season 2 on February 15.
The patch notes do not contain any information about when the new Resurgence Map will be introduced or which new weapons we can look forward to in Season 2.
