The well-known character Ghost from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is said to be getting a spin-off campaign for his own backstory.

The Call of Duty games have spawned a few iconic characters. Now, apparently, one of them is set to get its own spin-off. According to CoD insider “RalphValve” on Sunday, Ghost is likely to be honoured with his own campaign.

The development of the extra campaign for Ghost is said to have already begun, according to the insider. The development studio Infinity Ward is said to be the brains behind the spin-off and will be heavily involved in the development of the story. The campaign is expected to focus on Ghost and its backstory.

According to the insider, however, this will not be a standalone game. The campaign around Ghost will be added as additional content in Modern Warfare 2. Thus, the spin-off could be planned as future DLC. At least the head writer of Infinity Ward, Brian Bloom, has already expressed his interest in the story of Ghost in a (interview with IGN

For Bloom, Ghost is also an iconic character from the Call of Duty games and the head writer is sure that the audience would like a backstory to the protagonist. So far, only Ghost seems to have such a spin-off campaign planned. After all, Modern Warfare 2 features other well-known characters besides Ghost, such as Price, Soap or Farah.
