Warzone 2 – Are we dying too fast? Fans vote for longer TTK in Battle Royale

Time-to-kill has always been a contentious issue in Call of Duty. We took a closer look at it.

Shortly after Warzone 2.0 was released, streamers, influencers and YouTube detectives set out to find out how high the TTK (Time-to-Kill) of the new Battle Royale shooter was compared to its predecessor Warzone Caldera and asked the question: are we dying too quickly in Warzone 2.0?

Time-to-what?

The Time-to-Kill, or simply TTK for short, is the time needed to take out an opponent. It is given in milliseconds (“ms”). The time varies depending on the health of the enemy, which includes armour plates, the weapon used and the distance to the target.

A low value means that we have brought our opponent to the ground very quickly, a higher value correspondingly longer.

While the TTK in Warzone Caldera was at least 600 ms or higher for most weapons, this magic limit is immediately pulverised by several shooting irons in Warzone 2.0. In a video, CoD expert TrueGameData shows that various LMGs, assault rifles and SMGs are sometimes far below the 600 ms limit.

What’s the problem?

Since developer Raven Software took over the helm of Warzone 2, profound changes long hoped for by the community have been made in a very short time.

In addition to changes to the buy stations, loadout drops have been made available for money again. However, one problem has not yet been addressed, the extremely fast TTK.

Unlike Warzone Caldera, where Raven Software put it to a vote in March 2022 to permanently increase player health from 100 HP to 150 HP, in Warzone 2.0 we have to settle for the default 100 health.

The problem is even more dramatic in Warzone 2.0 than in its predecessor, however, because unlike in Warzone Caldera, we cannot automatically put on three armour plates, but must first find the appropriate holder for them.

Instead of a total of 300 HP (150 base HP + 3x50HP plates) as in Caldera, we may only have a maximum of 200 HP, which can quickly lead to TTKs of less than 400 ms at shorter combat distances. A fight can thus literally be over in a blink. An average blink lasts approximately between 300 ms and 400 ms.

Democracy – yeah!

In a vote, the CoD site CharlieIntel has now let the community vote and can present a clear result. A clear majority voted for an increase in health and a slower TTK in Warzone 2.0.

It remains to be seen whether or what conclusions Raven Software will draw from the vote. As recently as March 2022, the developer had let its community democratically decide for itself whether the health in Warzone Caldera should be increased.

The earliest date for a health change in Warzone 2.0 would probably be 1 February. It is currently assumed that Season 2 will start on this date.
