Warzone 2 sells old CoD skins just new and players are absolutely furious

Reskins currently cause outrage in Call of Duty: “New” Cosmetics look confusingly similar to old ones, but are available for the normal price in the ingame store.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 offers ever-changing cosmetic bundles for real money. Most of them contain operator and weapon skins. So at first glance, the new cannabis-themed Tracer bundle “Dr. Kushlov” is nothing out of the ordinary. But players quickly discovered that these are not new cosmetics at all, but reskins of old Warzone items.

This is how old and “new” skins look in comparison

YouTuber Ryan B. takes to Twitter to show how similar certain skins from Warzone: Caldera and Warzone 2 look. Both the operator and weapon skins differ from their respective templates only in details. The weapon also doesn’t shoot flashbullets like its predecessor, but green tracer ammo with smoke effects – but that’s not a significant change for many.

The bundle costs 2,400 CoD points, which is about 20 euros of real money. For most gamers, the bundle is not well received at all.

How the CoD community reacts

The comments on (Twitter), Reddit and Co. range from resigned to raging. What annoys many: Warzone 2 does not allow you to take already purchased cosmetics from the first part with you, even if the same Activision account is used. Some now feel like they are being asked to pay twice for (almost) the same content.

Reddit user RequiemOfI (writes) about the “Dr. Kushlov” bundle:

Now it also makes sense why you couldn’t take previous bundles, right?

The_Pursuer_2404 agrees with him in the same Reddit thread:

It’s pretty obvious now that things like the Classic Ghost are returning and only the bare necessities have been changed. They literally took everything out and are now reselling it. What a crock of shit.

Many express frustration with reskins like this on principle – and with the fact that such bundles are apparently bought often enough to be profitable for Activision and the developers.

What do you think about the topic? Are you annoyed when almost identical cosmetics from the predecessor are sold in the new game or are you happy about the return of skins that you already owned before? Or do you always stay away from CoD bundles that cost you real money anyway? Feel free to write us.
