Call of Duty: Warzone has not been running smoothly for a long time. Developers admit in a meeting that some things went wrong with the battle royale.
Since the Caldera update, Call of Duty: Warzone has been riddled with numerous new types of bugs, glitches and other issues that have been particularly galling to players:inside. In a meeting between CoD and content developers provided by Activision, those responsible admit to having screwed it up.
Call of Duty: Warzone is not in good shape at the moment and the development studio seems to be aware of the situation. The online meeting was attended by Infinity Ward studio head Pat Kelly, Activision director Josh Bridge and Raven Software’s Eric Biesmann. All three agree during the phone call: “We fucked this thing up. We broke it. We’re not happy with it. No excuses.”
The developers are not happy with the current state of the game. Bridge says the technology reached its limit when the last two CoD titles were integrated into Warzone. As a result, fixing bugs would be quite difficult. Initially, the battle royale was meant to be a part of 2019’s Modern Warfare. However, its popularity soared, leading to the decision to include Warzone in future titles as well.
Call of Duty leadership has acknowledged that Call of Duty: Warzone is a mess and had the following to say.
“We fucked stuff up. We broke it. We’re not happy with it. No excuses.”

Due to the popularity of the game, more and more content was put into the Battle Royale. However, this led to significant development challenges, which in turn led to the game’s current state of reoccurring or novel bugs. “It doesn’t feel like Modern Warfare anymore, but it doesn’t feel like Black Ops either,” as Kelly admits in the meeting. However, the developers promise to continue to improve Warzone and to be in communication with the players as well as being more transparent.
