After it had been quiet for a while around Counter-Strike 2, there was now the first major update for the beta. Valve brings not only a new map for CS2, but many more features.

The announced release of Counter-Strike 2 in summer is getting closer and closer and now we got the first major update for the beta. Valve not only has a new map in store for us, but much more.

Mirage in CS2

The biggest change, of course, is the new map in Counter-Strike 2. After the beta first gave us Dust 2, the developers are now rotating the classic out for another popular map: Mirage

The upgrade to Counter-Strike 2 also brings numerous changes for the map. For example, you can now finally shoot through the Vents in Window without destroying the barrier!

We are looking forward to exploring the new Mirage in detail and finding more changes in the port to Source 2.

Improved loadout for the start of the round

For Counter-Strike 2 we also say goodbye to the circle menu from CS:GO. Instead, there is now a simple list that can even be customised. The previously familiar categories (pistols, rifle) are now joined by the new “mid-tier” category, in which the shotguns and SMGs can be found.

The new menu is not only clearer, it also brings the decisive innovation that the slots in the loadout can be adjusted.

So players no longer have to decide between the CT options of M4A4 and M4A1-S at the beginning of a match, but can carry both in the 5 rifle slots, which they can also customise.

Refunds and more during the purchase phase

Another very welcome and long awaited change, is the ability to refund a gun purchased by mistake for the full purchase price.

Everyone has surely bought the wrong gun at one time or another and then resigned themselves to it in frustration in the upcoming round. In CS2, it will be possible to return bad purchases without any hassle and save your economy.

In addition, there is another improvement for the buying phase: You can now see what your teammates have bought. Finally, less frustration with lack of communication in matchmaking!

Improvement of the movement

One of the criticisms players repeatedly made in the beta of CS2 was that the movement felt too spongy and imprecise compared to CS:GO. The adjustments and changes from CS2 to Sub-Tick Server are probably responsible for this and Valve has tried in this patch to bring the movement back closer to the CS:GO feeling.

The patch has many more changes to offer. You can read them in full on the official site: (Counter-Strike 2 Patch Notes)

With this in mind, we wish you a good appetite and will of course keep you up to date with further news on Counter-Strike 2.

Bug reporting and more

Although Counter-Strike 2 is already well playable, it is still in beta stage and accordingly there are still many bugs, as also CS pro m0nesy had to find out.

So the developers are still working hard to fix all bugs and you should support them if you find bugs. The official Twitter has reiterated that you can also easily report bugs to the developers via email.
