After it became known about a week ago that the skin trading site CS.MONEY had been hacked and stolen from, the culprit has been tracked down.
Rare CS:GO skins can be worth thousands of euros. The person who launched a hacker attack on the trading website CS:MONEY a few weeks ago also knew this. Now, however, the perpetrator has been caught. At the same time, half of the skins are said to have been returned to their owners.
“We can already announce that we have found the person who hacked us. And we found out exactly how it was done,” tweeted Timofey Sobolevsky, senior communications officer at parent company EX CORP on Monday afternoon. Skins worth a total of 6 million US dollars were stolen in the attack on the night of 12 to 13 August. As of today, the site is still offline as a result.

While investigating the culprit, he said they regained control of the accounts where the stolen goods were stored. “We managed to return half of the stolen skins to our accounts,” Sobolevsky writes. This means that these very skins will be available on the site again in a few days.
Big bonus and cooperation with other trading websites
The EX CORP company is also offering a $100,000 reward for a hacking expertise that will contribute to the overall understanding of how exactly the intruder got their hands on the costly data. As was the case immediately after the attack, the trading platforms continue to work together. For example, CS.MONEY will share all findings about the hacking method used with other providers in order to prevent potential attacks.
