CS:GO champion FaZe Clan has already had to say goodbye to the IEM Rio Major 2022. Bad News Eagles seals its end in the mega event.
FaZe Clan was defeated in the third round of the Legends Stage. The reigning Major champions lost 2-1 to Bad News Eagles on Sunday and will have to say goodbye to the 2022 IEM Rio Major.
FaZe Clan already surprised in the run-up with a 0:2 false start in the Major. The CS:GO World Champion was also unable to prevail against Cloud9 and Team Vitality beforehand. Because of this, it was all about everything for Finn “karrigan” Andersen and Co. in the elimination match against Bad News Eagles.
However, the Major Champion already had to accept defeat on the first map of the best-of-three. After an overtime, Bad News Eagles was able to secure the victory with 19:16 on Vertigo and brought FaZe Clan close to major elimination after the first map. However, the reigning CS:GO World Champion was able to fight back on Nuke and evened the score at 1-1 after maps.

Bad News Eagles, however, made the bag in the final match, defeating the Major champions 22-20 on Mirage after double overtime. This sealed the end of FaZe Clan at the 2022 IEM Rio Major. The international mixed team failed to record a single win during the mega event and now has to say goodbye to the mega event with a surprising 0:3.
Update (02.11.2022)
After Sprout had already qualified directly for the Legends Stage of the CS:GO event of the year, MOUZ and BIG first had to prove themselves in the Challengers Stage.
MOUZ managed with an outstanding performance a 3-0 against fnatic, Evil Geniuses and Outsiders to get into the next higher stage.
However, after BIG came away with a narrow win in their first game against FURIA, they lost the following game against Bad News Eagles. However, they bounced back in the third game against Grayhound and from a 0-6 deficit, they still pulled off a 16-6 reverse sweep win.
In the fourth game (best-of-three) against 9Z, we saw BIG again with a strong 1st map which they closed with a solid 16-4. On the 2nd map (Dust2), however, things were not to go so easily. 9Z started a chase after the first half which pushed BIG into overtime.
Thanks to a good team performance and a good read by tabseN, BIG still managed to beat 9Z, finished the match with a strong 19:15 and thus also moves into the Legends Stage of the Rio Majors 2022 with a 3-1 score.

While Sprout plays in group 2. Besides the current best team in the world FaZe Clan, the first group will not be easy for Sprout with teams like G2 Esports, NiP and Cloud9.

Who will play next?
After Sprout’s aforementioned win over Forze (19-17), FANTASY is the next team to face Team Vitality with German player Bastian “(ayken)” Schendzielor. Immediately followed with the top match Mouz vs. OG and the BIG Clan vs. Sangal Esports.
