2023 also has plenty of events in store for the gaming community. In addition to DreamHack, there will also be the LEC and VCT.

The year 2023 will once again be packed with many Esport tournaments, events and happenings. In addition to DreamHack in Hannover, the gaming community can also look forward to spectacular tournaments in League of Legends and CS:GO.

League of Legends

In League of Legends, one highlight after the next awaits the players. The Winter Season in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) will kick things off. From 21 January to 26 February, the best European teams will compete in the highest league of the EMEA region. However, LoL fans can look forward to three splits instead of just two.

In addition to Winter, there will also be a Spring and Summer Season. In the end, the best six teams of the entire year will compete in the Season Finals. This will also determine who qualifies for the 2023 Worlds. For this, the teams have to reach one of the top places in order to be allowed to compete at the World Championship.

After all, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the Worlds are the biggest international events in League of Legends and therefore also a special highlight for every LoL fan in 2023. An exact date for the MSI and the Worlds has not yet been set, however, as usual, the two mega-events can be expected at the beginning of summer and in winter.

CS:GO

The CS:GO community can also look forward to an eventful year. In just a few weeks, the first major will begin. The Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Katowice is from 31 January to 12 February and there the best CS:GO teams worldwide will once again compete. The winner of the mega event also qualifies for the big major in Cologne.

In July, 24 teams will compete at the IEM Cologne in the old-fashioned Lanxess Arena. A total prize pool of one million US dollars will be distributed at the Major and the winning team will already secure a place for the IEM Katowice 2024. Beforehand, the teams can also qualify for the Major in Cologne at the IEM Spring in April and the IEM Dallas in May.

DreamHack Hannover

This December, the DreamHack took place in Hanover for the first time. In 2023, gamers can also look forward to the gaming and esports festival. The mega-event with a massive LAN party at its heart will take place both in June and again in December in 2023. This will allow the gaming community to gamble to their heart’s content for four days in both summer and winter.

There will probably be plenty of tournaments again at the Gaming and Esport Festival. The ESL Challenger is already planned for the upcoming DreamHack in Hanover. There, eight CS:GO teams will compete against each other and there is a total prize pool of 100,000 US dollars to be won.

VALORANT

Riot Games has made a few changes to the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT). The shooter now has the partner programme, similar to League of Legends, whereby only selected teams are allowed to participate in the VCT. From March to May, a total of ten teams will compete to find the best team from the EMEA region.

There will also be a World Championship in VALORANT. At the end of the year, the best teams from the three international leagues EMEA, Americas and Pacific will meet each other. The winner will not only go home with a trophy, but can also call themselves the best team in the world.

Gamescom

In addition to DreamHack in Hanover, there will also be another gaming festival for gamers:inside in 2023. Probably the biggest event for computer and video games will once again take place at the end of August, where publishers and developers can present their latest games and the gaming community can take a first look at upcoming titles.

The gamescom once again invites all gaming enthusiasts to the exhibition halls in Cologne from 23 to 27 August. Triple-A titles as well as small indie games will find a space at gamescom to reach gamers. The mega-event has been taking place in Cologne for over ten years and has developed into an important meeting place for the gaming industry.
