A first gameplay video shows Counter-Strike in the Source Engine 2. Find out everything you need to know about the free fan project here.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been around for a few years now, but despite modern competition like Valorant, it’s still (the most played Steam title).
Nevertheless, some players would like to see a remake of the shooter using, say, Valve’s new Source Engine 2. And because the developers, despite all the rumours, have not yet announced anything in this direction, fans are now taking it into their own hands and developing their own new CS:GO. You can find out how it looks and works here.

The developers recently presented the project called Counter-Strike: Source 2 in a video. Prior to that, they worked quietly for about six months to recreate CS:GO in the Source Engine 2.
However, they did not use the original code of the game: the fan project created all gameplay systems and mechanics from scratch. According to the developers, this has the advantage that new game modes and features can be added without difficulty. The code and the game are also to be available to the community as an open source project.
But for now, you can see for yourself what Counter-Strike in Source 2 looks like in the video:
What’s next? The development of the project is probably far from complete. The scenes presented are a small part of the game that was developed for the video, but outside of that there are still a lot of construction sites.
In the following weeks, the developers plan to publish another video in which they explain how Counter-Strike: Source 2 was developed.
While shooters like Counter-Strike are still played years after their release and enjoy a large fan community, other brands sink completely into insignificance, sometimes unjustifiably so.
What do you think of Counter-Strike in the Source Engine 2? Would you like to see such an update for the shooter, or do you rather not care about the graphics there? Feel free to post your opinion in the comments.
