After disappointing results this year, the German BIG Clan is rebuilding its roster. Two players from the academy team are promoted

The current player break, in which the professional CS:GO players take a break from competition, is also always the time for changes. This time it also hits the BIG Clan, who exchange three players at once.

From the old roster, only Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz and Karim “Krimbo” Moussa will play for the Berlin team in the future. The announcement was made by the e-sports organisation on Wednesday evening.

BIG promotes prosus and s1n

New to the team are two players from BIG’s junior team: David “prosus” Hesse and Elias “s1n” Stein. Both have already been allowed to prove themselves in the pros in the past and will now get the chance to do it for the long term.

Prosus is thus reaping the rewards of his work: the 20-year-old was signed for the junior side in September 2021, making him one of the longest-tenured players in the BIG academy. With his performance as a substitute for the prevented faveN at the online tournament “Brazy Party” in April, he has obviously convinced those responsible.

For s1n it is already the second promotion: In October and November last year the 21-year-old already played once in the main roster of BIG, among others at the Major

in Rio as well as the Elisa Masters in Espoo, Finland.

The Berliners sign Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski as a newcomer. The Pole won the ESL Championship with ALTERNATE aTTaX in 2019 before the Danish e-sports organisation OG signed him. He was benched there in July 2022 and released earlier this year. Since then, the 25-year-old AWP player has been without a team.

So it goes on for k1to, hyped and faveN

In turn, Nils “k1to” Gruhne is benched and allowed to find a new team. Marcel “hyped” Köhn returns to the youth team and is expected to continue to prove himself in the BIG academy.

Josef “faveN” Baumann is taking a break to spend time with his new family. The 23-year-old had married in April and shortly after became a father.

So the new BIG squad looks like this:

  • Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz
  • Karim “Krimbo” Moussa
  • David “prosus” Hesse
  • Elias “s1n” Stein
  • Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski

Old face returns to BIG

The team will continue to be coached by Counter-Strike legend Fatih “gob b” Dayik. However, the 35-year-old will receive support from a familiar face: Dustin “DuDe” Großmann.

The former CS:GO pro was first an analyst, then later a co-trainer and even a head coach at BIG from February 2020 to September 2021. The 30-year-old then took a personal sabbatical.

The newly formed quintet will make their first appearance at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups. The tournament will take place from 13 to 23 July in Copenhagen, Denmark.
