We will explain how the crafting system works in role-play, what the cyber-implants are and how to manage your equipment.
The countdown is on, in a few days Cyberpunk 2077 will be released. We will give you the full picture even before the start on December 10th and give you all the important information about the crafting system, the inventory and the cyberware, i.e. the implants that give you special abilities and useful equipment in the game.
Overview:
Crafting in Cyberpunk 2077
You can make your own equipment or improve found items, for example with weapon mods. But how exactly does that work in Cyberpunk 2077?
What can I craft? You can find blueprints in the game world, so to speak the recipes of the cyberpunk world. Among other things you make the following:
- Consumables like healing sprays
- Weapons and weapon mods
- Grenades
- Clothing and clothing mods
- Daemons you need for hacking
- Cyberware
Not only do you create new items, but you can also improve your weapons or clothing if desired. This way your equipment will remain useful even if you level up. Clothes bring their own armor values, if you only put on the one with the next better values, you run the risk of running through Night City as a style-mix clown. Upgrades let you determine your own look.
Can I craft everywhere? You don’t have to go to a special workshop to make something – it’s easy to do it in the menu. Here CD Projekt sacrifices a little realism to make it more comfortable for you.
Do I need a special talent for this? Actually, crafting has its own talent tree as part of the technique attribute, where you unlock additional abilities, for example better items or higher selling prices if you trade with NPC or the automatic disassembly of junk items.
Where can I get materials? Either you find the materials in the open game world – or you disassemble the equipment of your fallen enemies into its individual parts. There are common, rare and epic materials, which you can use to make common, rare or epic items. In order to collect, store and use your raw materials, you need an inventory.
The inventory of Cyberpunk 2077
As in other role-playing games, in Cyberpunk 2077 you collect equipment, weapons and crafting materials, which of course end up in your inventory. We explain what special features you need to consider.
Is my inventory limited? Your figure V cannot carry everything he or she picks up, because your carrying capacity is limited. You can increase it by increasing your strength or by having certain cyberware planted. You can see how busy you are at the moment in the menu. You can store items and materials that are too heavy in your apartment.
Can I store objects in my car? Yes, your car can also be used for temporary storage. If V owns a car, you can store weapons in the trunk and exchange them if necessary.
The inventory is your mirror: By the way, the inventory is the easiest way to look at your character – you control V exclusively from the ego view. You also only appear in certain mirrors. If you want to put V in the right light, you should take a look at the photo mode of Cyberpunk 2077.
Some useful equipment, however, is not carried by V in his backpack but under his skin – we’re talking about the cyberware implants, of course.
The Cyberware
The cyberware is one of the great features of Cyberpunk 2077, it is closely connected to the lorry of the game and also has a great impact on the game play. Most of you probably still know the Mantis arm blades, which were already shown in the very first teaser for roleplaying games. We will explain exactly what the implants are all about.
What exactly is Cyberware? The implants are an important part of life in Night City. Especially powerful and reliable cyberware can only be afforded by the rich, on the streets there is a trade in rather questionable upgrades. While some implants only look (more or less) decorative, others give their owner superhuman abilities, for example, particularly stable bones or murderously strong gorilla arms.
What kind of cyberware is available? Depending on the size of your wallet you can improve your figure with many different technical gadgets. For example, there is cyberware for your limbs, eyes, skeleton or nervous system.
How do I get new Cyberware? Basically you have two possibilities: You can buy the implants from a Ripperdoc and have them inserted, or you make them yourself by crafting them. Especially good – and accordingly rare – cyberware will only be sold to you if you have a high Street-Cred-Level. And even then you have to dig deep into your wallet.
Can I get cyberpsychosis? This disease occurs in the cyberpunk universe among those who have too many implants and lose their humanity. At some point, the cyberware overcharges their brain, which can lead to confusion, increasing aggression and finally uncontrolled outbreaks of violence. Such cyberpsychos are a big problem in Night City.
The good news is that your character is immune to this disease, so you can happily implant it. Cyberpsychos, however, provide you with crisp, optional boss battles in the Open World.
