There are dozens of different vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077. You can “borrow” them temporarily or buy them for a lot of money. But there is a third option.
Everything that is somehow fun is either forbidden, makes you fat or is abhorrently expensive. The latter is also true for the many cool, futuristic cars and motorbikes with which the streets of Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 are crammed.
Trying to buy them all with in-game currency quickly becomes a life’s work – especially if you want to pay for various characters as part of the main story, you want to treat yourself to some new cyberware every now and then and you don’t have anyone you can pump for a small loan of a million Eddies. Now, of course, you can randomly stop a car, beat the owner out of it and then drive around for a while. The only problem is that you can’t keep a vehicle you’ve obtained in this way permanently. It will not be marked on the map and sooner or later it will disappear if you move away from it for a while.
In our guide, we’ll tell you how to get cars and motorbikes that you can keep permanently for free.
Caution: Spoilers
Basically, you can get new vehicles by increasing your Street Cred and being chatted up by fixers who offer you the cars for sale. But you can also find some vehicles, unlock them and keep them permanently without spending any money on them. If you enjoy discovering these on your own in the game, you should logically skip this guide now. Some vehicles are also tied to certain quests – we describe this as minimally as possible so as not to give away too much of the story, but you will inevitably learn important details from the main story as you read. If you don’t want that, please turn back now. You have been warned.
Arch Nazaré
You can pick up two versions of this motorbike without having to stuff your Eurodollars down the greedy throat of a fixer. One of them, the “Itsumade” version, can be found in a garage in the Rancho Coronado district. This is where the side mission “The Highwayman” starts, which you can use to earn the item. The only prerequisite is that you have completed the story mission “The joyride”, which is usually done in the first few hours of the game.
Another Nazaré you get … did we mention that this guide contains spoilers for the main story? Last chance to turn back! If you’re still around – the other bike belongs to Jackie Welles. If you make sure that Jackie comes to his family after the events of the first chapter of the game and you complete the quest “Heroes” afterwards, you will be allowed to take Jackie’s motorbike as a reward. It’s not forced on you though – if you refuse it out of politeness, you get nothing!
Mizutani Shion “Coyote “
You can get a fancy Shion in sexy red colour in the Panam quest “Queen of the Highway”. There’s only one catch: You can only get the item if you tell on Panam to Saul and tell him that she wants to steal the basilisk. You can do that, of course, but then it looks bad for a possible romance with Panam. If you don’t want that anyway, everything is fine. Basically, though, either you get the car or you get Panam. You can’t have it both ways.
Porsche 911 Turbo
The name of the car itself is already a spoiler – and yes, you can of course unlock Johnny’s iconic car and keep it permanently. To do so, you’ll have to get involved with him and his missions, and spare a bad guy begging for his life at some containers in the Johnny quest “Chippin’ In”. Let the poor sausage go and you’ll get the Porsche and some other very fine extras.
Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech
At the southeast end of The Glen district, there is a fixer-upper called “Life’s Work”. Here you are supposed to steal a car – if you dust off the car and return it properly to the client (Jake), you will receive a follow-up mission 24 hours later, the completion of which will reward you with this fancy sports car.
Quadra Type-66 “Cthulhu “
There are a few different versions of the Type-66 in the game. The Ctulhu is signal black, has a fat rear spoiler and is one of the fancier versions, even if it drives like it’s on soft soap. But if you want to get to your destination stylishly and not necessarily alive, you can get this vehicle when you play the street races in “The Beast In Me” with Claire. In the last race, you don’t care about winning, chase her rival and stop Claire from shooting him by interfering vigorously. If you don’t do a good job of interfering, you don’t get the car for free, but unlock it for purchase.
Rayfield Caliburn
Night black, awesome handling, killer acceleration – and that sound! By far one of the best, fastest and most expensive cars in the game. And completely free if you play Panam’s missions and complete her quest “Ghost Town”. The corresponding mission takes you to a tunnel outside the city. Note where it is, complete the quest, return to the tunnel later and then park it there and wait for you to get in. After that, it’s permanently yours.
Thorton Colby CX410 Butte
East outside of Night City is an abandoned trailer park, waypoint Rocky Ridge. Northeast of the waypoint in front of a trailer is a dead body. It has the key to the CX410. It’s neither beautiful nor a really good car, but a gift horse… quite honestly, since the editorial horse that was given to us died of gingivitis, we don’t know how to end that saying either.
Thorton Galena “Rattler “
You can only get this old rattletrap if you have decided to start the game as a nomad. Then there’s the side mission “These Boots Are Made for Walkin'” at the very beginning. But don’t worry, if you’ve chosen a different background for V, you won’t miss much here either.
Thorton Mackinaw “Beast “
Claire’s souped-up Mackinaw is yours to keep if you complete the racing missions from “The Beast In Me” and end up chasing Sampson instead of focusing on winning the final race. This off-road vehicle is fast, tough and has a decorative plush bunny on the grille with strategically placed belly swaps.
Villefort Alvarado V4FC 580 “Vato “
Who wants luxury, who wants to splurge, who wants Villefort? This car is as fast and agile as a freezer. But you don’t want to win races, you just want to be seen – that’s exactly what this sedan was made for. And because these things are exorbitantly expensive, you can get one for free in the side mission series “Beat On The Brat“. You start these directly in the H10 building, where V’s flat is located. For these quests, you fight your way through various challenges with your bare fists. If you defeat César in the mission series, the car is yours.
Archer Quartz “Bandit “
This car came to Night City via free DLC. You get it for free if you solve the Panam quest “Ghost Town” reasonably peacefully. Let the traitor Nash Bane live, then Fixer Rogue sends you a message in which she praises your professionalism – and gives you the car in return.
If you want to kill Nash, but the car still looks good to you, then you have to pull out your credit bag: Fixer Dakota will offer the car for sale after the quest.
Delamain taxi
When you finish the 1st chapter of the game and go to the parking garage near V’s flat, you will automatically start the quest series “Epistrophy” . In the course of this quest you have to collect various crazy vehicles for the AI taxi service Delamain. Once you have done this, there is a follow-up mission “Don’t Lose Your Mind”, which rewards you with your own Delamain taxi. Beep-beep, asshole!
Brennan Apollo “Scorpion “
Perfectly fast and agile, this sleek motorbike comes in the unique and chicly decorated Scorpion variant. And it’s not even hidden much or hard to get. You just play the main story. For completing the main mission “Life During Wartime” you get the bike for free.
