The system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty have changed for the PC. This is what your computer must be able to handle.
Updated September 19, 2023: We have added more information to the article.
In a few days the big DLC update Phantom Liberty
for Cyberpunk 2077 will be released. The trailer already suggested that with this the graphics will be raised to a higher level.
Now CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the system requirements will increase – even for the base game. Also, you should install the game on an SSD hard drive to avoid bugs.
These are the system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
The new system requirements are quite a bit more demanding than the old ones. CD Projekt RED has published a table that clearly shows what we can expect on September 26.
To enjoy Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty at 60 FPS on high graphics settings, you’ll need better hardware compared to the main game, according to the new requirements. We’ve also been told that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 should definitely be installed on an SSD hard drive.
You can start and play the game, but you have to expect significant errors.
Recommended system requirements for the PC (FullHD, 60 FPS)
- Operating system: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i7 12700, AMD Ryzen 7800X
- Graphics card: GeForce RTX 2060 Super, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, Intel Arc A770
- VRAM: At least 8 GByte
- Memory: 16 GByte RAM
- Hard disk: SSD hard disk with at least 70 GByte storage
Minimum system requirements (FullHD, 30 FPS)
- Operating system: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i7 6700, AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1060 6 GByte, AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GByte, Intel Arc A380
- VRAM: 6 GByte
- Memory: 12 GByte
- Hard disk: SSD hard disk with at least 70 GByte storage
The system requirements in comparison
Those who want to play the game now with low settings, 30 frames per second and Full HD resolution should have at least one of the following graphics cards:
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GByte
- AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GByte
- Intel Arc A380 6GB
For Full HD, a graphics card will be necessary in the future that brings along at least 6 GByte video memory
The mechanical hard disk drive (HDD) disappears entirely from the minimum requirements. Starting with the next update, an SSD with at least 70 GB of free memory is required. For Full-HD Ultra and higher, a fast NVMe-SSD is recommended.
This change is not surprising, though: when the base game was released in late 2020, many players, especially those with PS4 and Xbox One, installed the game on mechanical hard drives. This resulted in extremely slow-loading textures.
What is rather surprising: the high demands on the CPU for Full HD with high settings. For this, you need at least an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X or an Intel Core i7 12700.
Much stronger hardware will now be required. Previously, an Intel Core i7 4790 or an AMD Ryzen 3 3200G was sufficient for this.
The minimum requirements for gamers who want to play with enabled ray tracing are also interesting. For 1080p, 30 FPS and Ray Tracing Low, the following graphics cards are required:
- Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060
- Radeon RX 6800 XT
- Intel Arc A750
With Nvidia and Intel, the two lower mid-range graphics cards are enough to play the game with ray tracing enabled. AMD gamers must have at least a high-end graphics card of the last generation.
On the other hand, CD Projekt RED states that at least 8 GB of video memory is required. So, it’s possible that the RTX 2060 with 12 GBytes was meant in the above listing.
The game should not stop working if the new system requirements are not met, though, according to developers. However, they do not want to test the game on the old hardware configurations in the future.
The update will be released shortly before the release of Phantom Liberty
expansion on September 26. So if you want to upgrade your PC until then, you still have some time left.
What do you think about these new system requirements? Can your PC handle the new Cyberpunk or are you planning to upgrade? Do you think these minimum requirements are very high and the game will definitely run on weaker hardware? It will also be interesting to see how Phantom Liberty will run on the Steam deck.
