Flying cars in Cyberpunk 2077 – and then even control them yourself? A free mod with a fairly simple installation makes it possible.

Flying cars fit Cyberpunk like a gorilla’s fist on a cybernetic eye. But Cyberpunk 2077 is still missing the fact that we take a seat behind the wheel of a flying car ourselves – at least from the official side. Thanks to a mod, players can simply fulfil this community wish themselves. We provide you with the most important information.

Of course, this is not the first time that fans of Cyberpunk 2077 have found a way to help themselves. For example, one mod provides vehicle battles from cars or motorbikes, while another even delivers a functioning underground network!

Where we go, we don’t need roads

Yes, in Cyberpunk 2077 there are actually already flying cars. However, we are not allowed to drive them personally, but instead play the passenger exclusively in the course of a handful of scripted sequences. This is where (the project of modder Jack Humbert) comes into play, who makes his work available for free download.

What does the mod deliver? With the mod Let there be Flight every car and motorbike from Cyberpunk 2077 becomes flight capable. This means that you can switch between flying and driving at any time behind the wheel of a vehicle. At the push of a button, tyres are retracted or extended again in the course of a separate animation.

Control works with mouse and keyboard as well as with the controller. If you are not satisfied with the standard layout, you can even customise the key assignment via an XML file.

By the way, if you crash-land behind the wheel of Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche 911 Turbo or the Quadra Type-66 Cthulhu, you can make use of the mod’s handy ejection seat function. How safely you land where is up to you. The best way to see exactly how the mod looks and works is to watch the following YouTube video:

How does the installation work? You can download the mod (for free on GitHub). Once you have unzipped the files, simply move them into your Cyberpunk 2077 installation folder – done. If you want to be on the safe side, you can find instructions at minute 04:47 in the video linked above.

It is currently unknown what exactly will happen with Cyberpunk 2077. All we know is that CD Projekt Red is working on the planned story add-on, while the chances of a Transmog system are pretty good. As soon as new info hits, we’ll let you know, of course.
