Diablo 4 turns an old church into a hellish shrine with a giant mural – you have to see this trailer.

Diablo 4 is getting closer and closer: On 6 June you can expect the release of perhaps the most anticipated game of the year. And already from 17 March, the first of you will play the Diablo 4 beta for yourselves and get an impression of the potential action role-playing game hit.

Blizzard has now shot a new live-action trailer for this beta – and has decorated an entire church with demonic murals for it.

Diablo 4 transforms desecrated church

The atmospheric commercial shows the interior of a church in France whose walls and ceiling have been fully decorated with opulent murals depicting the battle between the five playable classes and the demonic hordes of Diablo 4’s new enemy Lililith.

But best see for yourself:

If the voice of the speaker sounds familiar to you: It’s actor Charles Dance, who most might know as the wily Tywin Lannister from the series Game of Thrones.

Specifically, the church is the Chappelle des Jesuits – a desecrated church in Cambrai, France. The huge artwork was realised by baroque artist Adam Miller and covers a total area of 2,400 square metres. A total of 20 different paintings together form a 60-metre-long mural.

John Mueller, the art director of Diablo 4, revealed in a behind-the-scenes video that the goal had been to create something of epic scale, reminiscent of the time of Michelangelo and Davinci and those old masters. We think: It worked well!

The demonic mural in the French church is not the first fancy marketing campaign for Diablo 4. Already in the past, players could have Diablo symbols decorated for free and thus secure beta access. And recently Blizzard presented quite absurd fashion creations at a fashion show, which are also said to be inspired by the action RPG series.
