It’s still a long time until the realease of Diablo 4, but it’s all the more pleasing that Diablo 3 will continue to be supplied with content and updates. Season 25 is now starting and brings all kinds of new things. Since 10 December, you can once again plunge into the carnage of the magical realm of Sanctuary.
What does the new season bring for Diablo 3?
With the new season Diablo 3 will be upgraded to version 2.7.2 at the same time. Of course, this also brings all kinds of performance and balancing changes, which you can find in the (Detail in the Patchnotes). The most exciting new feature, however, is the new mechanic of Diablo 3 Season 25: Soul Shards. Soul Shards are scattered pieces of the Soul Stones, which are used in the Diablo world to trap souls of powerful evils. They have appeared in previous games and now find their way into players’ hands as upgrade items. So you can come across the shards anywhere in the world, collect them and use them as useful sockets in your equipment.
There are several types of shards:
- Three Great Evil Soul Shards that fit into your helmet sockets
- Four Soul Shards of the Lesser Evils that fit into your weapon sockets
You can only have 2 of these soul shards equipped at any one time. As they offer powerful bonuses, it is important to weigh up which ones to add to which of your sets. By upgrading the shards with the consumable “Sparks of the Hellforge” you also unlock additional properties. The Soul Shard system is designed to keep you busy for the entirety of Season 25.
More Equipment and Challenges
For Diablo Season veterans it should be nothing new. Of course, there are once again numerous cosmetic rewards to earn over the course of Season 25. This time even objects from Season 13 return. So you can earn the helmet and the shoulder protector of the Conqueror set for your latest fancy Transog outfit. You also get the corresponding portrait frame and the bloody teddy bear Blaine’s Bear as a pet. You get these for completing the seasonal journey.
These starter sets are waiting for you in the seasonal journey.
Of course, the new season in Diablo 3 also includes a new free seasonal journey with a series of tasks. These are structured according to the chapters of the campaign and reward you with Haedrig’s gifts after completing them for the first time. Inside are powerful set pieces for the class you use to open the gift. You can also send Haedrig’s gifts to your twink!
So for completing the full season journey and opening all the gifts, you get a complete set with an active powerful 6 set bonus.
