Whoever is among the first 1,000 people to reach level 100 in Hardcore mode will be made “immortal” by Blizzard. But there are concerns.

Those who are among the fastest and most skilled players in Diablo 4 can probably make themselves immortal. Unfortunately only indirectly, you can still die in the game. But whoever manages to reach level 100 the fastest in the merciless Hardcore mode will be immortalised by Blizzard on a physical statue of Lilith.

This was recently announced by Blizzard via Twitter, opening an official race shortly before the release. Only those who are among the first 1,000 to achieve this feat will receive the reward.

Once you have completed this feat, you must share a proof screenshot of your level 100 Hardcore character and Tempered Champion trophy on Twitter using the hashtag

What is hardcore mode?

Whoever starts Diablo 4 in Hardcore Mode has to be prepared for a lot. If you die even a single death in this mode, your entire character will be deleted. This becomes even more difficult if, as in this case, you want to get from level 1 to level 100 very quickly – which, according to current information, can normally take up to 150 hours.

You also have to master the very challenging capstone dungeons to get to the highest difficulty level. A lot can go wrong in the process and every death throws you completely back to square one. Still, it may well take only a few days for the first 1,000 heroes to complete this challenge.

Fans feel unfairly treated

A race like this sounds appealing, but there are also some complaints. Shortly after the contest was announced, the comments under the tweet and also (on Reddit) saw a lot of frustrated players who already think the race is unfair.

After all, it is known that content creators and press representatives already have the full game. Franchise Producer Rod Fergusson also spoke directly to these concerns on Twitter, stating that there is no unfair advantage as all of these people will lose their progress on the release of Diablo 4.

For many, however, this fact is little consolation. After all, it’s already a big advantage to know the game inside out and to know what surprise each boss has in store for you. Speed is also easier if you already know all the paths and speed builds. Some of the content creators of the Diablo collective Maxroll have already announced that they will not claim the reward precisely for reasons of fairness.

Nevertheless, many fans would have preferred such a challenge to take place at the start of the first season and not directly at release. Especially since pre-orderers can start earlier than the rest.

What do you think of this hardcore race? Do you understand the excitement or do you not believe that such a large part of the gaming community really has an advantage? Let us know what you think in the comments!
