In a developer video there is new information about classes and skill trees. We summarise the most important for you.

While no exact release date for Diablo 4 is known yet, more and more details about Diablo 4 are coming to light. For example, numerous scenes from a closed beta phase are being leaked. But also the developers themselves provide fans with new information and now talk in a video about classes and skills in the upcoming action RPG.

This is how classes and builds should be fun

If you”d prefer to watch the new developer video yourself, you can tune in right here, for everyone else we summarise the most important points below.

Freedom without too much complexity

You should be able to play the individual classes in your very own way, but the choices should not overwhelm players. This is ensured by the Book of the Dead for necromancers, for example, which allows you to customise the summoned servants as you wish. In this way, you can pursue your own strategy in battle without having to perform many additional actions.

Passive abilities, the enchantments for example, should also enable different play styles for the sorceress without overburdening players with too many active abilities.

Orientation in the skill tree

This approach is also followed in the skill trees. The aim here is to find a balance between freedom of choice and beginner-friendliness. For example, not all fire enchantresses should have to use the same skills, but at the same time the compilation of an own build should not be too time-consuming. As in Diablo 2, skills should be related to others and partially strengthen them or benefit from them.

To find such synergies and to make it easier to create builds, you can search for certain keywords in the skill tree, such as bleed damage or similar. All matching skills will then be highlighted.

Reset Skills

If you are not satisfied with your build, you can also reset individual spent skill points or all of your skills, but you will have to pay gold for this. At the beginning of the game, the costs are still minimal, which should also encourage you to experiment with different skills and find out your own preferences.

Later in the game, however, reallocating skill points becomes more and more expensive. This is to give meaning to the choices you make when building your character, and to build a connection to it, as at some point you won”t be able to keep changing it at will. Also, builds should no longer be as dependent on matching equipment as they were in Diablo 3 and should be more connected to your character.

More info on Diablo 4

One of the most controversial features of Diablo 4 will probably be the real money shop. Whether Pay2Win like in Diablo Immortal is waiting for you and what can be bought here.

The reason why Diablo 4 wants to be more restrictive when it comes to item trading was recently shown in Diablo 2: Resurrected. With all the partly justified concerns about monetisation strategies and other possible weaknesses of Diablo 4!

What do you think of the information in the developer video? Do you like the balanced approach of depth and accessibility? Or would you have liked more complex classes and builds? Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments!
