Season 5 is getting big: Find out everything about the new endgame, the class changes and the release date here
What’s next forDiablo 4? Blizzard has now revealed the upcoming Season 5 in a new edition of the Campfire Chat format – and they have a lot planned before the release of the addon Vessel of Hatred on October 8!
We summarize here what you can expect in the (still nameless) Season 5 and when you can start playing.
Release of Season 5 and PTR launch
The test server (Public Test Realm, PTR for short), where you can try out the new content and improvements of Season 5 in advance, will go online on June 25. The PTR phase ends on July 2. The PTR is only available for PC via Battle.net and not on other platforms!
The officialrelease date of Season 5 in Diablo 4 is August 6, 2024
The season will run until the launch of Vessel of Hatred, so it will be a little shorter than usual. Parallel to the addon launchSeason 6 will begin on October 8, 2024.
New Endgame: Infernal Hordes
One of the biggest new features of Season 5 is the roguelike-style Infernal Hordes mode
The story first takes us back to hell, where a new series of quests awaits. Once this has been completed, you can take on the infernal hordes: This new horde mode sends endless waves of enemies after you
After each attack, you can choose one of three “Infernal Offers”, each of which contains a powerful buff and a nasty penalty. If you hold out long enough, you’ll experience a nice reminiscence of Diablo 2!
More weapon selection for all classes
Another major change concerns the classes and what equipment they can use: With Season 5, the selection of available weapons for each class is growing
For example, the Sorcerer class will be able to wield one-handed swords and maces for the first time, which were previously taboo.
Lots of new items
Blizzard’s Community Manager Adam Fletcher reveals that there will be over 50 new legendary and unique items in Season 5 This should make the loot pool much more exciting and varied again.
Here’s a foretaste:
Some of the fresh items will be available as loot in the new Infernal Hordes mode (see above), for example. The necromancer in particular benefits and gets new movement optionsand additional abilities for minions
More improvements in fast-forward:
- Players no longer need to create seals to summon the Beast in the Ice
- Buffs for the Druid (Companion) and the Wizard (Chain Lightning) are planned
- Endgame bosses can be summoned again without a dungeon reset
- The Pit multiplayer will receive an update before Season 5
- Uber-Uniques will represent their own rarity level in the future
- Auto pin for new quests will be added
- Treasure Goblins improved
