The mid-season update 1.4.3 for Diablo 4 makes all classes stronger. But the powerful new elixir from Season 4 is now history

Blizzard released the new patch 1.4.3 forDiablo 4on June 17, introducing a whole series of changes and adjustments. One of the most significant changes concerns the Elixir of Holy Lightning, which was previously considered one of the most powerful tools in Season 4.

The most powerful tool from Season 4 is now more than just useless

The Elixir of Holy Bolts was extremely powerful, dealing damage based on a percentage of the enemy’s health. This mechanic made it possible to defeat even the toughest opponents with relative ease.

After the update, however, the Elixir’s damage now scales with the player’s weapon damage instead of the enemy’s health. This drastically reduces its effectiveness, especially against bosses and elite mobs.

Blizzard justified this change by stating that the elixir was too powerful at higher difficulty levels of the game and negatively affected the balance. In return, the health points of enemies in certain endgame content, such as the pit, were reduced to compensate for this massive nerf.

You should refrain from using the elixir at the moment – and not just because the damage bonus has been greatly reduced.Currently, it is causing a lot of crashes, so Blizzard had to deactivate the potion’s effect. You can theoretically continue to consume it, but since it has no effect at the moment, it would just be a waste of your resources

Developer’s note:We’ve been thrilled with the community’s enthusiasm since the launch of Season 4 and are very pleased with the state of the game. The changes in this patch are aimed at strengthening classes and builds that are slightly underperforming compared to others. We are also significantly reducing the difficulty of the pit to ensure that all builds can reach level 60 and obtain the highest level completion materials.

    • “Poison Nova” now appears on the enemy instead of the player.
    • “Poison Nova” damage increased by 50%.

    • Shadow Blast damage increased by 100%.

  • Ring of Starless Skies

    • Maximum stacks for resource cost reduction and bonus damage increased from 4 to 5.
    • This increases the maximum amount of resource cost reduction and bonus damage from 40%[x] to 50%[x].

  • Tyrael’s Power

    • Divine Barrage damage increased by 100%.

Paragon

  • Value requirement for secondary values has been reduced from 90 to 60 per Paragon board.

Developer’s comment:Primary stats for a class are stats that increase the damage of all skills. For example, the primary stat for Wizards is Intelligence, so this change affects their rare Paragon nodes, which have threshold bonuses for Dexterity and Willpower. The value requirements to activate a rare node increase with each additional paragon board you progress through. Some of these nodes that require secondary stats were harder to activate than intended. This change makes it easier to activate these nodes, especially on later Paragon boards.

    • Now – Your rage generation is increased by 35-65% and the rage cost of your skills is reduced by 15% while all bonuses of the core passive skill Shifting Arsenal are active.

    • Hitherto – While stealthed, you are healed for 4/8/12% of your maximum life per second.
    • Now – When you activate Stealth, and every second while you are stealthed, you are healed for 5/10/15% of your maximum Life.

    • Damage of non-base and non-core skills increased from 15%[x] to 25%[x].

  • Glyph: Fluidity

    • Former – When you cast an agility skill, you gain 9%[x] more energy regeneration for 6 sec.
    • Now – When you cast an agility skill, you deal 10%[x] increased damage and gain 15%[x] increased energy regeneration for 6 sec.

  • Glyph: Explosive

    • Damage reduction increased from 10%[x] to 15%[x].

  • Glyph: Reduce

    • Damage reduction increased from 10% to 15%.

Legendary Aspects

  • Aspect of the Blade Dancer

    • Damage increased from 30-60%[x] to 50-80%[x].

  • Aspect of artful initiative

    • Required energy for dropping grenades reduced from 100 to 75.
    • Grenade damage increased by 50%.

  • Aspect of surprise

    • Grenade damage increased by 200%.
    • When casting Shadow Step, grenades are now dropped at the location the player teleports to instead of where they came from.

Developer’s comment:This change only affects where the grenades are dropped on “Shadow Step”, not on “Dodge”.

    • Required time for a “Dark Veil” reduced from 3 to 2 seconds.

    • Damage of “Arrow Storm” increased by 30%.
    • Bonus damage of all Arrow Storms increased from 25-35%[x] to 30-40%[x].

ENDGAME

  • Health and damage levels in the pit have been reduced. This change will be especially relevant as players approach level 60 so that more players can use completions.

Developer’s comment:We are adjusting the pit to allow more players to experience smoother endgame progression.

  • Reduced the health of all martyred bosses by 30%. This includes bruises from the tortured echo of Lilith.


FIXED BUGS

  • Fixed a bug that caused the damage of the Elixir of Holy Lightning to scale up unintentionally when triggered by pets such as the Necromancer’s minions.

Developer’s note:The Elixir of Holy Lightning now deals a percentage of your weapon damage as damage instead of a percentage of the enemy’s health. This change is intended to mitigate its effectiveness against the stronger enemies in higher levels of the pit, but keep it useful for players throughout the game. We’re pairing this change with the health reduction of enemies in the pit so that players who progress deeper into the pit aren’t overly impacted.

  • Fixed a bug that prevented “Boulders” from working with “Dolmen Stone”. “Boulders now have a cap of 10, but their damage is increased by 10% per boulder.
  • Fixed a bug where Rapid Fire would not properly hit nearby enemies when Kiss of the Rascal was equipped, sometimes firing projectiles behind the player. This also increases the blast radius by 25%.
  • Fixed a bug that caused pets to be counted as minions in some cases.
