The latest patch brings major changes to the user interface and the season mechanics, and also has some balance adjustments in store.
After two tiny patches, Diablo 4 is once again showing off a long list of patch notes with update 2.0.3. These actually include significant changes to the season mechanics and the crafting user interface. We’ll start by explaining the most important new features, and you’ll find the patch notes on page two as usual.
What’s in update 2.0.3
Changes to the season mechanic: Season 6 sends huge world bosses, the so-called Realmwalkers, across the map. However, the monsters were criticized for being far too slow. With the latest patch, they are stepping on the gas:
- The base speed of the Realmwalker has been increased by about 15 percent.
- Every time you kill a wave of bloodbound guardians, the movement speed of the Realmwalker increases by 10 percent. So if you kill all three waves, the boss will move 30 percent faster.
- The event progression has been sped up overall.
- In addition, there have also been changes to monster spawning during the Realmwalker event: the Realmwalker can now summon a treasure goblin, the maximum enemy spawns have been increased, and they will no longer be reduced if only one person follows the Realmwalker.
User Interface Changes: Blizzard has tried to make crafting clearer. Particular attention has been paid to rune crafting:
- The crafting notification for runes now shows what is being crafted instead of the runes used.
- The recipes for crafting random runes in the jeweler now also show which runes are needed for each recipe.
- The tooltip for swapping runes and gems in sockets now correctly says “
socket
” instead of “socket
”. - The tooltips for runes and rune words have been updated to better communicate their effects.
- The tooltip for completion now indicates that the item must be tempered twice before it can be completed.
- Various tooltips and icons for crafting resources have been updated to make them easier to understand.
In addition to these improvements, the new update also includes many other changes. For example, damage numbers are now abbreviated: instead of a 10,000, you will see a 10k on the screen. There are also numerous bug fixes that solve a wide range of issues. You can find them all on page two of the article.
