Diablo Immortal caused trouble before and after its release. Now the first big update is here and this time even the fans are not happy. Here is all the info including patch notes.

Diablo Immortal remains an extremely controversial piece of software. Even before the release, there was a lot of stink for the mobile-only approach, then the Pay2Win accusations blew up in its face after the release and now even the people who didn”t really have a problem with all these things are getting angry.

But there is actually good news for active Immortal players. The action role-playing game has received its first major update today, which also marks the beginning of Season 2.

There were also a lot of fixes that are supposed to improve the basic game. Here we tell you about all the contents and why some fans are still dissatisfied.

Season 2: What”s in the new Battle Pass

In addition to dozens of other progression and pay models, there is also a classic Battle Pass in Diablo Immortal. Here you can unlock new ranks by completing different activities and receive certain rewards for doing so.

(With Season 2, the Battle Pass was reset and equipped with new rewards)

The Battle Pass is renewed with every season and now that Season 2 is starting, there is also a new Battle Pass. This time, the pass is all about the Bloodsworn. You can unlock a total of 40 ranks – but only until 4 August 2022 at 3:00 a.m.

As usual, the pass has a free version, as well as two paid variants. Here is an abbreviated overview of the respective rewards:

  • Free Battle Pass: In the free Battle Pass, you unlock different items with each rank. These include materials such as scrap, hilts, gems or emblems. Occasionally, there are also legendary weapons and, at the last rank, a legendary gem.
  • Empowered Battle Pass: The empowered Battle Pass unlocks even more materials with each rank, but also more powerful items like more legendary gems, emblems or keys for chests in Iben Fahd”s Sanctuary. Special this Season are cosmetic items in the Bloodsworn style. There is a level 1 weapon and level 40 armour. The pass costs 5 euros.
  • Collector”s Empowered Battle Pass: With this even more powerful version of the paid Battle Pass, you get all the rewards, instantly rise 14 ranks and receive unique cosmetic content. This season, this is the Blood Oath Avatar Frame as well as a Blood Oath Portal design. This pass will cost you a whole 15 euros.

Consider very carefully if and what you want to spend money on in Diablo Immortal. A closer look at the mechanics shows how vehemently Blizzard is really asking its customers to pay here.

New game content

The displeasure of most Diablo Immortal fans is not so much shown by the changes to the Battle Pass, but has to do with the new game content. On Reddit, many players are annoyed at how little Immortal actually makes new at the start of the Season and how short the content is available. In total, there are two new additions:

Final Boss in the Reliquary of Hell

You can now join your fellow players in the Reliquary of Hell to ruin the day for a new raid boss. A battle against Vitaath the Shuddering Death is available here. The demoness is completely surrounded by snow and rises into the air on her wings of ice. Generally, she uses cold on a grand scale to read the mortal heroes the riot act.

(The fight against Vitaath can only be mastered together with other players.)

Hungry Moon

The second content innovation is a weekend event called Hungry MoonBut this event will only run from 15 to 18 July During this time, you can complete special quests that will reward you with moon shards. You can then exchange these shards for blessings. Once you have seven blessings, you will receive another random reward. Exactly how the event will work and what you can get is still unknown.

Players unhappy, but Blizzard reassured

The fact that the first new season after the release brings so few innovations with it is currently upsetting a part of the community. However, Blizzard has already pointed out in several places that this update is only the first of two. According to this, there will be more innovations later in July. These include, for example, the feature to change the class.

Franchise Manager Rod Ferguson even notes on Twitter that the second patch will be the first really big update for Diablo Immortal.

  • Added a new option under Settings☻Controller that allows players to specify that the Demon Hunter”s primary attacks are only triggered by active button presses.

Developer”s comment: This setting will not be enabled by default for existing Demon Hunters. However, it is enabled for all newly created Demon Hunters. The ultimate skills Barbarian”s Frenzy and Wizard”s Electrocution have received the same change.

FIXED BUGS

gameplay

  • Adjusted the logic behind monster appearances to make waiting at a location in Zoltun Kull”s Archive and Mount Zavain with the goal of exploiting the same appearance point over and over again less effective.
  • Adjusted how auto-targeting works when casting the same skill repeatedly over time.

Developer comments: These two changes were made to make it less rewarding to repeat a small sequence of attacks in one place, as bots often do.

  • Changed the description of Petrified Flesh Shard from “Every time you cause a loss of control on an enemy” to “Every time you cause a complete loss of control on an enemy” to clarify what effects trigger the gem.

Developer”s comment: The gem”s explosion is only triggered by a complete loss of control (such as effects like Stun and Fear), not by all loss of control effects (such as Slow and Undercool).

  • Fixed a bug that caused some class abilities to not play sound.
  • Fixed a bug where resonance and combat rating were given as 0.
  • Fixed a bug where some doors were blocking bosses and other large monsters.

  • Fixed a bug that caused the resonance to increase when gems were exchanged via the loot chest.
  • Upgrading materials and Awakening Echoes are now refunded to players as intended after the upgraded or awakened item is destroyed.
  • Removed Paragon level requirements for some quests.
  • Fixed a bug where Chests of Glory were not being shared with all party members.
  • Fixed a bug where players could not perform a primary attack after being interrupted by enemies.
  • Experience orbs now appear in a smaller radius after killing a monster.

Developer comments: Some players have been frustrated with how experience orbs currently appear in the game, flying in a random direction away from the killed monster. With this patch, we are reducing the distance they can appear.
