A German player has managed to cause infinite damage in Diablo 4. We explain how it works

The end of the line has been reached, nobody will do more damage in Diablo 4: A player on the game’s test server has discovered a method of dealing infinite damage

In his latest video, German Diablo expert Rob2628 shows how his barbarian deals so much damage in “Spin-to-Win” mode that the game eventually only displays the infinity symbol (∞), as it is no longer able to display the exact damage numbers.

But it’s best to see for yourself:

So the barbarian does infinite damage

The whole thing happened on the PTR server (Public Test Realm), where Blizzard is currently testing an upcoming update. But how can his barbarian’s damage reach such astronomical proportions?

Rob explains in the video that the key to this exploit lies in the combination of the new key passiveTough as Nailswhich exponentially increases the barbarian’s thorn damage with each attack. This ability scales with every hit and, thanks to an extremely high attack speed, the thorn value is increased so much in a short time that it exceeds the damage limit of the game

Once the damage numbers reach a decillion or 40 digits (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000), the game displays the infinity sign instead of numbers.Numbers of this magnitude are normally only found in cosmology or theoretical mathematics.

In addition, there are other mechanics, such as scaling the thorn damage with the amount of life of the barbarian and the use of special equipment that further increases the damage. All of this combines to create a kind of exploit that causes the damage to grow inexorably and practically wipes out every opponent immediately.

As impressive as this build may be, Rob emphasizes in his video that this mechanic will most likely not be carried over to the main game in this form. After all, this is a bug on the test server that Blizzard will definitely fix before the final update goes live.
