Elden Ring: Patch 1.06 is live – protect yourself from nasty PvP tactics and troll attempts

FromSoftware has released a big patch for Elden Ring. It brings a lot of buffs, nerfs and even some helpful new features. We have all the patch notes for Update 1.06.

Patch 1.06 for Elden Ring has been released! It brings a whole range of new improvements, balancing adjustments and changes, so it”s easy to lose track of the patch notes. We have therefore summarised the most important new features from the update for you.

Patch 1.06 for Elden Ring is already live and thus available for download. The update was released on 9 August 2022

Content: The most important new features of Patch 1.06

With a size of 44.1 GB, there is a lot in Patch 1.06 for Elden Ring. We have summarised the most important changes and innovations for you in the following bullet point list:

  • Nerfs: The balance of the Ashes of War Bloodhound Step and the Katana Rivers of Blood have been adjusted. The ability and weapon were popular among numerous players, especially in PvP, and feared accordingly. Skilled players could exploit overpowered features of the Ashes of War to gain unfair game advantages.
  • Labeling of illegal items: Some trolls in Elden Ring had fun using items that were actually removed from the game to provoke a soft ban on other players. Elden Ring now warns you of such items with a clear ERROR marking.
  • Coop and PvP: With patch 1.06, you have a choice in your Co-op Summoning Reserve call sign whether you want to travel to nearby or far away areas. The same applies to invading other players, but Moghwyn Palace is exempt.
  • New NPC: If you don”t like PvP, there is now a new NPC in Elden Ring thanks to patch 1.06. He will allow you to do Varré”s quests. It allows you to complete Varré”s questline without invading other players. You will then have to deal with the new NPC as an adversary.
  • Numerous fixes and improvements: Of course, patch 1.06 brings even more changes to Elden Ring. 

    What”s next for Elden Ring?

    Many fans are impatiently waiting for the announcement of new DLCs and addons for Elden Ring. However, From Software is not showing its cards in this regard. Those who don”t want to wait too much longer can keep themselves happy in the meantime with co-op or survival mods from the community.

    Main changes in the latest update

    Additional items

    • Add feature to send summon signs to summon pools in multiple areas, including remote areas.
    • When sending a co-op sign to remote areas with this function, the summoning pools in “Mohgwyn Palace” are excluded.
    • Add is the function to invade a larger area, including distant areas.
    • Added a new way to advance the White Mask Varre quest line by defeating a new NPC

    Balance Changes

    • The following adjustments have been added to Greatsword, Curved Greatsword, and Great Hammers:
    • Shortened the time it takes to roll after an attack (not counting jump attack, two sword attack, and attacks on horseback).
    • Increased the movement speed of strong attacks and attacks on horseback (not including mounted attacks).
    • Increase the movement speed of guard counters.
    • Increased the attack speed of Great Axes and reduced the time needed to roll after an attack (jump attack, attack with two swords and mounted attacks are not included)
    • Increased rolling distance when player is wearing light equipment.
    • Increased hitbox of Cipher Pata”s weapon skill “Unblockable Blade”.
    • Increase the range of Ash of War “Glintstone Pebble” and “Glintstone Dart” projectile while reducing damage and tumbling power.
    • Reduced the range and invincibility frames of Ash of War “Bloodhound Step” and added the following changes:
       ・Reduced power when used continuously.
       ・Increased travel distance with light equipment load.
    • Shortened the activation interval when the Quick Step skill is used consecutively and increased the ability to circle the enemy when targeted, as well as the following changes:
       ・Reduced power when used continuously.
       ・Increased movement distance with light equipment load.
    • Reduced the damage and bleed of the weapon skill Ghoul when hit with the Blood Attack. Damage is now only slightly reduced when hit with the blade.
      The targeting ability of the spell “Stars of Doom” has been reduced

    Bugfixes

    • Fixed a bug that caused some attacks from “Luzern” not to penetrate the enemy protection
    • Fixed a bug that made it difficult for a two-handed jump attack with “Bloodhound Fang” to break through the opponent”s stance
    • Fixed a bug that caused the effect of “Determination” and “Royal Knight”s Determination” to disappear after using the skill “Parry” with a dagger
    • Fixed a bug that caused additional effects of spells, weapon skills, and items to not apply correctly when wielding an axe and greataxe at the same time.
    • Fixed a bug when wielding a halberd two-handed that made it harder to resist enemy attacks after using a protection counter.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the affinity for physical attacks on some weapons to not match the affinity listed in the description.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the player to be more easily noticed by the enemy when wearing the “Deathbed Dress”, even when ducking.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the flail attack to damage an ally when wearing the “Deathbed Dress”.
    • Fixed a bug that caused HP to regenerate when changing your equipment to a certain armour type.
    • Fixed a bug where the effect added to the weapon when using Mist of Slumber was lost when the player received an attack
    • Fixed a bug that caused the playable character”s movement to become unstable when hitting certain enemies with the Ghost Flame Ignition ability.
    • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from using the follow up attack of the Queen”s Black Flame skill when the skill was performed with insufficient FP.
    • Fixed a bug in the weapon skill “Zamor Ice Storm” that allowed the player to more easily resist enemy attacks when using the skill with insufficient FP.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the effect of spells and items added to the right hand to occur when certain weapon skills were used with the left hand.
    • Fixed a bug where the description of FP consumption of certain weapon skills was different from the actual FP cost.
    • Fixed a bug where the Rock Blaster would not consume FP when used with a staff in the left hand and no weapon in the right hand.
    • Fixed a bug where the charged version of “Black Flame Ritual” was using the same amount of stamina as the normal version
    • Fixed a bug that caused the player to regain less HP from summons and items other than Vial of Crimson Tears when activating the effect of Malenia”s Great Rune.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the “Opaline Hardtear” to not increase the negation of physical damage.
    • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from jumping in the air while riding under certain conditions
    • Fixed a bug that allowed jump attacks with colossal weapons to hit twice in a row while riding
    • Fixed a bug that caused some characters to appear more than once in the summoning pool
    • Fixed a bug that caused the effect of a weapon skill attack to persist under certain circumstances
    • Fixed a bug that caused significant performance issues in “Ordina, Liturgical City” under certain circumstances
    • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from picking up dropped runes after death under certain circumstances
    • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from reaching certain inaccessible areas in multiplayer mode.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the multiplayer area to have a different boundary than expected
    • Fixed a bug that caused some enemies to have an incorrect appearance and behaviour.
    • Fixed a bug that caused incorrect sounds to play under certain circumstances.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the player to be unable to move in some areas, resulting in death.
    • Fixed a bug that caused some locations on the map to have an incorrect display and hitboxes.
    • Fixed a bug in some maps that allowed the player to use certain procedures to reach unexpected locations.
    • Fixed a bug in the PC version that caused click input when equipping staffs or holy seals and when switching windows to active.
    • Other performance improvements and bug fixes.

    Other

    • Adding the “ERROR” text to unauthorised items
      In the 1.04 update file, we fixed a bug that allowed players to give unauthorised items that are not available in the game to other players.
